A North Carolina father was found dead following a road rage dispute where he was allegedly shot and killed by an elderly man on Saturday evening.

Terrell Eugene Giddens, 75, purportedly shot Jeffrey Michael Guida, 40, with a rifle after both men pulled over and got out of their vehicles during some sort of traffic altercation, according to eyewitnesses.

Giddens also fired at Guida’s vehicle multiple times, which was occupied by his three children, according to eyewitnesses.

Guida’s kids — aged 13, 11 and 2 — were not physically harmed, according to information from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.

“It certainly could have been worse if the children were injured or killed,” Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Aaron Turk told WBTV.

Giddens was arrested and charged with murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder, according to the sheriff’s office.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing both men pull their cars over at the intersection of Island Point Road and North View Harbour Drive in Catawba, N.C., about an hour outside of Charlotte.

Responding deputies found Guida dead at the scene around 5 p.m. with Giddens nowhere in sight. Investigators used eyewitnesses’ descriptions of Giddens and his vehicle to find him at his home nearby on Island Point Road, where he was arrested.

Friends and family have constructed a small memorial for Guida at the intersection where he was killed.

“It’s unbelievable, isn’t it? That something like that could happen right here in my neighborhood,” neighbor Dennis Couch told WBTV.
