Rob Lowe and Demi Moore played convincing love interests in the 1986 romantic comedy About Last Night, and it turns out there were some sparks offscreen as well.

During the Wednesday, October 23, episode of her “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast, Kelly Ripa asked Lowe, 60, about his “crazy good” chemistry with Moore, 61, in the film.

“Did you have a crush on her?” Ripa, 54, asked. “Did you guys ever date?”

Lowe replied, “I mean, Demi and I briefly — I’m not telling tales out of school — we briefly had a thing.”

The actor noted that the pair’s fling came before Moore’s engagement to their fellow Brat Pack member Emilio Estevez. Moore and Estevez, 62, called off their engagement in 1986.

The Brat Pack will be reuniting to grace screens for the first time since the height of their Hollywood reign. Andrew McCarthy, best known for his starring roles in Pretty in Pink and St. Elmo’s Fire, is bringing the famed group of actors back together for a Hulu documentary — aptly titled Brats — that […]

“And then we all were at [Demi’s 1987] wedding to Bruce [Willis],” Lowe recalled.

Lowe said it comes as no surprise that there were romances within the Brat Pack, which also included Anthony Michael Hall, Andrew McCarthy, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy.

“Look, anytime you put young 20-something men and women together, hookups are inevitable,” he said. “And I don’t think that has changed.”

Lowe has been married to wife Sheryl Berkoff since 1991 and the couple share sons Matthew, 31, and John, 28. Moore, meanwhile, welcomed daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30, with Willis, 69, before they divorced in 2000. She was later married to Ashton Kutcher from 2005 to 2013.

Lowe shared on Wednesday that he and Moore are “on a text thread” and “very much in contact” decades after their fling as they are “actively trying to do a St. Elmo’s Fire sequel.” The twosome both starred in the 1985 coming-of-age film, along with Estevez, Sheedy, 62, McCarthy, 61, and Nelson, 64.

Lowe said the sequel is “moving along” but “going more slowly” than he would’ve liked despite all the OG stars being “on board.”

While fans may have to wait a while longer for the new film, both Lowe and Moore have other irons in the fire. Lowe is currently starring in season 5 of the Fox procedural 9-1-1: Lone Star and Moore garnered widespread critical acclaim for her role in The Substance, which hit theaters in September. The satirical body horror film deals with the psychological challenges of aging, and Moore has spoken about embracing the aging process while promoting The Substance.

“To me, this is the most exciting time of my life. It is,” she said during an appearance on Today last month. “My children are grown. I have the most independence and autonomy to really redefine where I want to go. I don’t know what that looks like or what that is, but I’m just excited to be living in it.”
