A late Jarrod Bowen penalty gave West Ham a 2-1 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.

Both teams needed a win to attempt to break into the top half of the Premier League after poor starts.

It was The Red Devils who started brighter, with Alejandro Garnacho hitting the post, and in the first half there were chances for Casemiro, Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot amongst others.

In the second half, Rashford was taken off just before the hour mark as Erik ten Hag introduced Amad Diallo, but it was another substitute – Crysencio Summerville – who broke the deadlock on 74 minutes.

Seven minutes later, Casemiro scored as he headed in an equaliser after a Joshua Zirkzee assist, only to see a VAR decision go against Matthijs de Ligt, and Bowen scored from the spot in the 92nd minute.

Talking point – How much longer can Ten Hag go on?

Another defeat, another match where Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford underwhelmed.

The Dutchman was already under pressure but the last week has seen rumours surface of talks between United and Xavi Hernandez, with other names in the frame.

After so many stays of execution for Ten Hag, more time for the manager cannot be ruled out, but the end feels near.

Player of the match – Jarrod Bowen (West Ham)

The pressure was on the England international to convert an injury-time penalty. His nerveless conversion showed why he remains one of the most reliable strikers in the Premier League despite his early-season struggles.

81’ – GOAL! WEST HAM 1-1 MAN UTD – CASEMIRO – Casemiro scores, and Zirkzee – on for Eriksen – was part of the move. A corner is not properly cleared, Zirkzee heads towards goal, and Casemiro smartly sends it past Fabianski.

90’ – VAR PENALTY CHECK – West Ham win a penalty as De Ligt looks to have conceded a handball or perhaps barging into Ings, or maybe for tugging the shirt of Kilman.

90+2 – GOAL! WEST HAM 2-1 MAN UTD – BOWEN SCORES – He blasts home his penalty into the bottom right corner.
