India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.07% By Investing.com

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the rose 0.07%, while the index added 0.12%.

The best performers of the session on the were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:), which rose 3.58% or 102.05 points to trade at 2,948.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) added 2.34% or 38.85 points to end at 1,699.65 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:) was up 2.18% or 37.15 points to 1,742.25 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.54% or 39.70 points to trade at 1,522.90 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.70% or 11.05 points to end at 640.00 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:) was down 1.51% or 19.10 points to 1,241.65.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.07% to 2,934.45, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.90% to settle at 1,692.90 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.82% to close at 1,735.45.

The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.83% to 1,237.55 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:) which lost 1.43% to settle at 802.05 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.21% to 1,596.05 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1577 to 890 and 159 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2177 rose and 1609 declined, while 95 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.59% to 16.17.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.91% or 23.90 to $2,638.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.80% or 0.55 to hit $68.62 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.51 to trade at $72.79 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.03% to 84.43, while EUR/INR fell 0.33% to 89.16.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 106.34.
