Candace Cameron Bure is counting down the days until she’s a grandma, but she’s not putting pressure on her kids to have children of their own anytime soon.
“I can’t wait until I have them, but I’m definitely not pushing them,” Cameron Bure, 48, exclusively told Us Weekly while discussing the Great American Family’s Christmas Festival. “They’ve been married less than a year. Whatever their timing is is great with us.”
Cameron Bure shared the news in January that she and husband Valeri Bure’s 24-year-old son, Lev, married Elliot Dunham. (Cameron Bure and Bure, who tied the knot in 1996, also share daughter Natasha, 26, and son Makism, 22.)
While she may not have any grandkids now, Cameron Bure already has a name picked out that she wants the next generation to call her by when the time comes.
“I’m defending my grandma name. Nobody likes it except me and I wanted to be Candy Gram,” she told Us. “I just thought that was cute. My son doesn’t think so. I think he’s like, ‘You’re just sticking with Grandma Candace.’ I’m like, ‘OK.’ Maybe Grammy. Something like that, I don’t know.”
Cameron Bure added that she hopes she’s a “fun grandma” when the time comes. “We’ll see,” she said.
When she’s not brainstorming her future nickname, Cameron Bure is releasing two holiday movies this season: A Christmas Less Traveled and Home Sweet Christmas. In A Christmas Less Traveled, Cameron Bure plays a woman who, after discovering an old audio cassette of her dad’s voice, embarks on a journey to retrace her family’s most memorable moments. Home Sweet Christmas, meanwhile, follows two friends find love in a town called Wishing Tree.
“I’m always trying to find a new script. I read so many Christmas stories all year long, so you’re trying to find the ones that you feel are a little set apart. You’re imagining, which costar would be great in this film?” Cameron Bure told Us, adding that she “fell in love” with the story in A Christmas Less Traveled while Home Sweet Christmas is a “new take on the meet cute.”
The Full House alum is promoting the projects at Great American Family’s Christmas festival, which is happening now through December 29 at UBS Arena in New York. Attendees can enjoy a massive immersive experience featuring celebrities, exclusive screenings, photo opportunities, ice skating, festive craft workshops, holiday-themed culinary delights and beverages, and Santa.
“It’s like being in the park at Christmas time and you can do lots of things with your family. So there’s food and drinks but you can visit Santa and take pictures. The kids can write letters. We’re going to do a little karaoke. We’re going to be previewing our movies and doing Q&As,” Cameron Bure shared with Us. “And then there’s all kinds of fun little things that you can do that the arena has there. So if you’re a hockey player up for some skating outdoors, there’s outdoor ice skating and they’ve got fun other hockey games to do there. But it’s just a great afternoon with your family.”
A Christmas Less Traveled premiered on Great American Family earlier this month. Home Sweet Christmas premieres on the network Sunday, December 1.
