In Scheana Shay’s upcoming memoir, the Vanderpump Rules alum reveals that her husband, Brock Davies, was unfaithful while she was pregnant with their daughter.
“I remained in a state of paralyzed shock as he confessed that he’d cheated on me two years prior, when we were living in San Diego during the pandemic, while I was pregnant with Summer,” Shay, 40, wrote in an excerpt from her upcoming book, My Good Side, which was shared by Glamour on Thursday, July 10.“I had spent so much time fighting off my anxiety and convincing myself that just because Tom cheated on Ariana didn’t mean Brock would ever cheat on me. Now, I was finding out just how wrong I was.”
Shay recalled being shocked by the confession, which came on the heels of Scandoval in spring 2023.
“As I sat there, feeling completely sick to my stomach, he admitted that — at the time — he was scared about being a father again, specifically about whether he even deserved to be, and he chose to deal with it by sleeping with someone else,” she continued. “I use the word ‘chose’ because it was very much a conscious decision. No one twisted his arm or dragged him into bed.”
In the excerpt, Shay admitted she was “unable to contain my rage” that Davies had a “brief affair” with a woman at his gym in 2021.“I slapped him and threw a Rubik’s cube in his direction, which he dodged,” she wrote. “To this day, every time I see a Rubik’s cube it triggers me, pulling me right back to this incredibly dark moment in my life. Same goes for any mention of an F45 gym.”
Shay wasn’t sure whether her marriage would crumble amid the revelation.
“That same night, Brock gave me a letter that he’d written a year after the affair ended,” she recalled. “He wrote the letter, which included more specifics than I ever wanted, such as how many times they’d slept together, where they’d done it, and where they hadn’t (our house). He also pointed out that it was purely physical, never emotional, and he always used protection. Gee, thanks! He definitely wasn’t sober when he put pen to paper, so the spelling errors were rampant. I can’t explain why, but that really irritated me. Maybe because it felt like another sign of his carelessness.”
She concluded: “The letter made me remember the weeks leading up to my second trimester when, like many pregnant women, I was sexually stimulated. I’ll never forget how, during that time, Brock was ‘afraid’ to have sex with me (or he simply didn’t want to). That did a number on my anxiety, and it killed my confidence in a way I can’t even describe. His behavior now made so much more sense. Once I’d read it, that was more than enough. I told him to immediately toss it into the fire. I never wanted to set eyes on those words again.”
Shay and Davies started dating in 2019 and got engaged two years later. The couple, who share 4-year-old daughter Summer, exchanged vows in 2022, which was documented on Vanderpump Rules. The reality show also addressed Davies’ tumultuous coparenting relationship with his ex, with whom he shares two kids, Winter and Eli.
Davies first revealed on season 9 of Vanderpump Rules that a domestic dispute between him and his ex led to him losing touch with his older children. After issues with unpaid child support, Davies confirmed that he has been making payments but has yet to reconnect with Winter and Eli.
My Good Side is set to be released on July 22, and covers Shay’s life before the spotlight and what followed when she rose to stardom as a cast member of Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules. Shay helped launch VPR by sitting down with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star Brandi Glanville to discuss Shay’s affair with Glanville’s then husband, Eddie Cibrian.
The book description reads, “An intimate memoir from Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay, delving into everything from the origin story of the iconic show, to her struggles with fertility and pregnancy loss, and all the hilarious and heart-wrenching moments that were left on the cutting room floor. Before 11 seasons of record-breaking TV, two Emmy nominations, and a chart-topping podcast, ‘Scheananigans,’ Scheana thought signing on to the Real Housewives‘ spinoff show, Vanderpump Rules, was a stepping stone to reaching her ultimate goal of becoming a successful actress in Hollywood.”
According to the synopsis, My Good Side will let Shay pull back “the layers of who she really is.”
“[She] shares all sides of her — the good, bad, and messy — bringing readers on a wild nostalgia trip through the early days of Vanderpump Rules, while recounting jaw-dropping stories from her Hollywood black book, including setting the record straight on her relationship with Eddie Cibrian,” the description teased. “She reveals how her outlook on love has evolved and led her to a daughter she was told she may never have. From being bullied as a kid to being bullied by the Witches of WeHo, Scheana has seen it all, and together she and her fans can laugh, cry, and reminisce on all the drama, heartbreak, and celebrations over the years.”
Shay joins several of her former Vanderpump Rules costars in the transition from reality TV star to author. Stassi Schroeder has released three books so far: Next Level Basic, Off With My Head and You Can’t Have It All: The Basic B*tch Guide to Taking the Pressure Off.
Lala Kent, meanwhile, wrote Give Them Lala while Kristen Doute released He’s Making You Crazy: How to Get the Guy, Get Even, and Get Over It.
My Good Side hits bookshelves on July 22, 2025.
