Machine Gun Kelly claims he was close to snagging a part in Ryan Cooler’s acclaimed movie Sinners — there was just one major issue he says he couldn’t get over.

“Like Sinners, I was supposed to be in that,” the singer said on the Thursday, July 31, episode of The Pat McAfee Show. “The vampire, they had me set up to do the audition — it’s the one that’s in the house, so he’s the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family. In the audition, he has to say the ‘n-word’ and I wouldn’t do it.”

He continued, “I have a lot of aspirations to be in movies, it just hasn’t panned out that way.”

Kelly added that when it comes to being featured in any future movies, he’s “on universal timing,” adding that in the end, “It’ll align. The angels will put something in the works.”

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly started off their relationship by being coworkers, but it quickly evolved into something more. Fox and Kelly (real name Colson Baker) met on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass in March 2020. At the time, Fox was married to Brian Austin Green. Two months later, the costars were […]

He concluded, “There’s been plenty of movies that come out that I was like, ah, I was supposed to be in that, or I did auditions for that.”

The singer also shared that the character in question was Bert, a KKK member who is turned into a vampire. The role ultimately went to Peter Dreimanis.

Kelly welcomed his first daughter Saga Blade with ex Megan Fox in March 2025 (and is also a dad to Casie, who he shares with ex Emma Cannon). The pair have not publicly posted photos of the baby’s face, but in May, Kelly shared a series of photos via Instagram that featured one of Saga Blade’s hands.

“My baby and my oldest daughter [Casie] is my most important thing,” MGK said on the red carpet at the American Music Awards on May 26. “She is feeling sick today so I’m just going to walk the carpet and go back and give my baby some love. I’m a dad, man. And blessings come with your children so the more you give to them they also fill your soul up and I’m able to provide and give something to the world.”

He added that he likes to spend his nights singing to the infant.

“Singing ‘Cliché’ over and over,” he said of what he does at home, “That was the first song I played to Megan’s belly. And she started kicking.”

Fox and Kelly met on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass in 2020 and got engaged in 2022, before separating in November 2024 while Fox was pregnant.

Kelly appears to reference the relationship in the song “Cliché.”

“Tell me, would you stay with me?” he sings in the song’s chorus. “Baby, we could make this home.” He later also sings, “You should run away with me / Even if you’re better off alone.”
