Kristin Cavallari got into plenty of mischief in her teen years — and, at one point, got into a fight with ex-boyfriend Stephen Colletti that led to a run-in with the police.

“In Laguna, I remember I got taken home by the cops because I was out,” Cavallari, 38, recalled on the Tuesday, September 2, episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast. “Until you’re 18, there’s a curfew. I think it’s midnight and I was out past curfew.”

Cavallari explained that at the time she was a junior and was out past curfew with Colletti, now 39, who was a grade above her in high school.

“We were parked on the side of the road, I think we were fighting,” she continued. “We had pulled over to fight because there’s nowhere else to go. A cop drove past us and he saw two teenage kids fighting. Of course, he’s going to come over and see what’s going on.”

The officer came over to Cavallari and Colletti and asked the pair to show him their IDs. Since Cavallari was not a legal adult at the time, the officer drove her home. Cavallari’s father, however, had no idea that Cavallari had “left” her home in the first place.

“I remember walking up to the door like, ‘He’s about to murder me. My dad is going to actually murder me because he doesn’t know I’m gone,’” she reflected. “I remember my dad answered the door so confused and [he was] like, ‘Wait, I thought you were asleep.’”

Cavallari and Colletti dated on and off throughout high school. Their romance and alleged love triangle with costar Lauren Conrad was a main focus on the hit reality series Laguna Beach. The drama aired on MTV from 2004 to 2006 for three seasons.

While Cavallari and Colletti didn’t end up pursuing a relationship after their reality TV days, the pair have remained good friends.

From reality stars to NFL athletes, Kristin Cavallari has had her fair share of high-profile romances over the years. Cavallari rose to fame on MTV’s Laguna Beach in 2004, at which time she was dating high school sweetheart Stephen Colletti. “We’re friends. I speak to them from time to time,” Colletti exclusively told Us Weekly in July 2018 of his dynamic with both Cavallari and Conrad post-high school. “I’ll go down. Conrad will throw a killer 4th of July party in Laguna, and so I’m usually down there for that. And then, yeah, I’ll speak with Cavallari from time to time. We always just check in and say hello.”

Cavallari echoed similar sentiments years later, during a 2023 episode of her and Colletti’s “Back to the Beach” podcast.

“We’ve always been in each other’s corners, always been rooting for each other,” she said. “We’ve always really cared about each other, which I think is important.”
