Taylor Swift may not have made an appearance in person at Travis Kelce’s NFL game in Brazil, but the pop star was still at the forefront of fans’ minds.
Swifties waited with bated breath to see if the Tortured Poets Department singer, 35, would show up to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo on Friday, September 5.
Although Swift did not grace Brazil with her physical presence, she was clearly dominating the thoughts of many attendees at the sporting game, judging by posts shared via X on the night.
In several posts, fans had brought along pictures of the “Lover” singer’s face, which they had glued to sticks to make novelty masks.
Other social media posts showed other fans wearing Swift-themed outfits — including one fan who donned a T-shirt emblazoned with the singer’s face.
Throughout the day, many Brazilian fans were on high alert for signs of the “Bad Blood” hitmaker, hoping for Swift’s arrival in the country.
Swift’s name also came up ahead of the NFL season opener when Kelce, 35, spoke to local media.
ESPN Brazil reporter Paulo Antunes asked the tight end on Thursday, September 4, how his “life has changed” after striking up a romance with Swift.
In response, Kelce quipped, “Well, I got one more ring from it.”
The comment referenced Kelce’s recent engagement to Swift, which they announced via a joint Instagram post on August 26, as well as the three Super Bowl rings he won thanks to the Chiefs’ victories in 2020, 2022 and 2023.
Swift has become a regular fixture at many of Kelce’s games as she supported her man over the past two years. She first appeared at Arrowhead Stadium in September 2023 confirming romance rumors.
Appearing on the “New Heights” podcast in August, which her fiancé cohosts with his brother Jason Kelce, Swift detailed her transformation into an NFL superfan after previously having limited knowledge about the sport.
“I fell in love with it, I became obsessed with it,” Swift told the brothers. “I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!’ And my friends were like, ‘Who bodysnatched you? What do you mean we drafted Xavier Worthy?’ … I was screeching, I couldn’t believe it.”
The same month, Kelce opened up about Swift’s newfound love of football during an interview with GQ magazine.
“I sort of made her a football fan,” Kelce told the outlet. “She is the most engulfed fan now. She knows what the injury reports look like. She understands what special situations are, third and short — all these things because she just naturally loves to hear about my job.”
