Travis Kelce is not afraid to express his emotions.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, admitted in an interview with Erin Andrews on Sunday, September 14, that he cried while proposing to his fiancée, Taylor Swift.

“I’m an emotional guy, so there were a few tears here and there,” he told the FOX Sports personality. “But it’s been an exciting, exciting ride up to this day, I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.”

The football star also shared how he believes Swift, also 35, has made his life better by simply being a part of it.

Travis Kelce opened up about his engagement to Taylor Swift for the first time since the couple announced the news. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, reflected on his proposal to the pop star, also 35, during the Wednesday, September 3, episode of his and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, revealing that he […]

“She has brought excitement and a joy for life that made me a better man, made me a better person, and made me just that much more comfortable than who I am,” he gushed.

Kelce and Swift announced their engagement on August 26, 2025, after two years of dating.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift captioned an Instagram post alongside photos of Kelce down on one knee.

Kelce first expressed his interest in getting to know Swift in July 2023, when he attended her concert in Kansas City with a friendship bracelet featuring his phone number. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to meet Swift that night, but the pair eventually connected.

The pop star made her first appearance at a Chiefs home game two months later in September. She began showing up at several games throughout the 2023 football season, and Kelce attended one of her concerts in Argentina in November of the same year.

Kelce first spoke publicly about the pairing that same month.

“There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: ‘Yo! Did you know he was coming?’ I had somebody playing Cupid,” he told WSJ Magazine at the time. “She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out.”

“Obviously I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them. … I’ve never dealt with it,” he continued. “But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it. … The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that, I better not be the one acting all strange.”

Swift first commented on the relationship in December 2023, when she told Time that things “started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell.”
