Demi Lovato’s ex-fiancée, Max Ehrich, allegedly inhaled nitrous oxide and violently attacked his mom before he was arrested for domestic violence.
According to the police report obtained by TMZ, law enforcement officers responded to a domestic violence call from someone who alleged the actor was showing himself harming his mom while live streaming.
When cops arrived at the residence Ehrich, 34, shares with his mom, they reportedly discovered her at a neighbor’s home.
His mother, Rhonda Ehrich, detailed the alleged abuse, telling the responding officers that she and The Young and the Restless alum had gotten into a fight over her phone and that he had consumed nitrous oxide before the argument turned violent.
She claimed her son chased her outside their home and into their neighbor’s backyard before pushing her to the ground and kicking her in the thigh.
While Ehrich’s mom told police that she did not suffer serious injuries from the incident, she claimed her son “heavily abuses inhalants.”
After speaking to his mom, officers spent several minutes ordering Ehrich to come outside. Once he complied, he was arrested and transported to jail.
Ehrich was taken into custody in Florida on Tuesday, October 7, for one count of battery on a person 65 years of age or older, Us Weekly can confirm.
His time behind bars didn’t last long, though. He posted $1,000 bond and was released on Wednesday, TMZ reported.
Ehrich and Lovato, 33, were first linked in March 2020. At the time, a source told Us that the two had met “a few weeks ago” and it was “getting really serious,” with Ehrich moving into the singer’s California home during the pandemic.
“The quarantine has been really great for Demi and [she] and Max have gotten so close,” the insider said. “[She’s] doing a great job at staying sober, healthy and taking care of [herself].”
Ehrich and Lovato announced their engagement in July 2020 after just four months of dating.
The engagement glow quickly faded and the pair called it quits in September 2020.
Lovato later admitted she “rushed into something” and “didn’t actually know the person that I was engaged to” in her 2021 YouTube documentary, Dancing With the Devil.“The hardest part of the breakup was mourning the person that I thought he was … but I’m not the only one who felt fooled. I was just as shocked as the rest of the world at some of the things that were said and done.”
Lovato, however, found love again, and tied the knot with Jordan “Jutes” Lutes in May.
Lutes, who cowrote several tracks on Lovato’s 2022 Holy Fvck album, popped the question in December 2023 and learned how to play guitar for his surprise proposal.
“He did learn to play the song on guitar that he wrote, and it was so beautiful. He made a song that was about our journey together,” Lovato revealed on SiriusXm’s “Morning Mash Up” show last month. “It had all these little Easter eggs in it, and it was so special and beautiful, and he proposed to me with that, and it was just so thoughtful and he’s the best.”
