Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Alex Vesia has established himself as a critical piece to his team’s bullpen, and his wife, Kayla Vesia, has been by his side the entire way.

In October 2025, however, Alex was forced to step away from the team on the eve of the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays as he and Kayla — who announced her pregnancy with baby No. 1 in April 2025 — address a “family matter,” the Dodgers announced.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the team posted via Instagram. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family and we will provide an update at a later date.”

Manager Dave Roberts told the media that he considered Alex “day-to-day” but was placing no expectations on his trusted southpaw. The team left him off their World Series roster.

The news sent Dodgers fans flocking to Alex and Kayla’s social media pages to express their support. Many were already familiar with Kayla as she is a constant presence around the team, celebrating the club’s triumphs with her husband, fans and fellow WAGs.

Kayla and Alex Vesia Are Expecting a Baby

Kayla and Alex announced the baby news in April 2025 post via Instagram, showing the couple kissing and holding up a mock newspaper with the headline “Extra! Extra!” and pictures of a sonogram below.

“Baby Vesia coming soon, we are beyond excited for this next chapter!” the caption read.

Since then, Kayla has frequently shown off her baby bump and alluded to the baby’s impending arrival on social media.

They Got Married in January 2024

The couple announced their engagement in November 2022 and tied the knot in January 2024.

Her content revolves around her role as an MLB WAG, taking fans through her days at the ballpark and, more recently, postgame celebrations as the Dodgers move forward in the postseason.

Kayla’s TikTok channel is littered with footage from events with other Dodgers spouses, including fundraisers that the group puts on together.

When the Dodgers announced Alex would be away from the team at the start of the World Series, Chelsea Freeman, wife of first baseman Freddie Freeman, took to Instagram to offer her support.

“Please keep the Vesias in your prayers,” she wrote via her Instagram story.

Kayla and Alex have been together since at least 2019, with Kayla sharing photos of the couple throughout his minor league journey and eventual breakthrough into MLB.
