Today’s Savannah Guthrie is speaking out after the FBI released new surveillance photos of a potential suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
“We believe she is still alive. Bring her home,” Savannah, 54, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, February 10. “Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department 520-351-4900.”
In her latest social media post, the NBC News journalist shared four images first released by the FBI earlier in the day.
“New images in the search for Nancy Guthrie,” read a tweet from FBI Director Kash Patel on Tuesday. “Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.”
The post continued, “Working with our partners — as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
The images showed a person standing at the entryway of Nancy’s home in Tucson, Arizona, wearing a ski mask and seemingly attempting to cover the camera.
The FBI also released video of the individual caught on camera at Nancy’s home.
“Someone out there recognizes this person,” Savannah wrote in a separate Instagram post. “We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”
Nancy was last seen on January 31 after attending dinner with family members. She was reported missing the next day after she failed to join friends and watch her Sunday church service virtually.
As of now, police have yet to officially identify any suspects or persons of interest.
In the past week, Savannah and her siblings, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, have pleaded with the public to help find their missing mom.
In an Instagram video posted on February 4, the siblings noted that their mom’s “health is fragile.”
“Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light. She is funny, spunky and clever,” the Guthries said. “She has grandchildren who adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses. She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her and you’ll see.”
Since her mom was reported missing, Savannah has been in Arizona and away from the Today show.
Her colleagues, including Craig Melvin, Carson Daly, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, continue to share updates with viewers and offer prayers to the Guthrie family.
“Behind the scenes, we’re all rattled. We’re all shaken,” Sheinelle Jones said on the February 3 episode of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle. “We all recognize that we have a job to do, but as you guys know, we’re family around here. It’s not just something we say. We’ve all been a little rattled. A lot of us had trouble sleeping. We’re worried about her.”
