Larsa and Scottie Pippen‘s son Preston got brutally honest about how their fame affected his development — and nearly made him not join Netflix’s Calabasas Confidential.
During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Preston, 24, admitted there were “definitely” moments he considered not being part of a reality show after his mother’s history on The Real Housewives of Miami.
“There was a point in my development where I got a lot of attention — negative attention — because of my parents,” he recalled. “So, having to take a pause and ask myself, ‘Am I ready now to take that heat?’ I definitely had that thought to myself.”
Preston chose to take the risk, adding, “But you got to roll with it. I’m a big boy now.”
Netflix’s newest reality show, which premieres on Friday, May 29, follows a complicated friend group. According to the synopsis, Calabasas Confidential explores when “a group of lifelong friends, foes, and exes return to Calabasas [after graduating college] for a summer they’ll never forget.”
The description continues: “Back home and living in their parents’ hillside mansions, they’ll be faced with the daunting reality of confronting unresolved drama while trying to define what’s next for their lives and relationships. Four years may have put distance between them, but new flames, old feuds, and unexpected secrets don’t stay hidden forever behind the gates of LA’s most envied zip code.”
Preston is one of several cast members whose parents have been in the public eye. His costar Hercy Miller is the son of rappers Master P and Sonya C and his brother is Romeo Miller.
Jodie Woods, meanwhile, might sound familiar since she’s the younger sister of Jordyn Woods. There is also Raine Michaels, who is Bret Michaels and Kristi Gibson’s daughter.
“I think the obvious [piece of advice I got from my mom] is just like, ‘No matter how much you know your friends, once there’s a camera on you then everyone around you may act a little bit different,’” Preston shared with Us. “That’s what I took into this experience.”
Jodie also spoke with Us about what Jordyn told her about joining a reality show after her public drama with the Kardashian-Jenners.
“Honestly, I took away the same thing. My family said the same thing to me,” she added. “Also they said to always stay vigilant, be yourself and that’s the best thing to do.”
