Ella Langley has abruptly canceled her Tulsa, Oklahoma concert amid concerns over a “serious security threat.”
“Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight’s show,” the “Choosin’ Texas” singer, 27, wrote via Instagram on Friday, October 9. “This decision was made under the advisement of local authorities, the venue, and my security team.”
Langley continued, “I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am. This is not a decision that was made lightly. I was so looking forward to spending tonight with you, but your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way.”
Langley’s announcement came hours before she was scheduled to take the stage at the BOK Center for her Dandelion tour.
The BOK Center also released a statement following the cancellation of the concert.
“The safety and well-being of everyone involved is our absolute priority, and after careful consideration, we have determined that the show cannot proceed,” the BOK Center wrote in a statement shared via Instagram on Friday. “We understand the disappointment this news brings and apologize to fans who planned to attend. The safety of fans is our foremost concern and will always come first.”
Information regarding refunds for those who purchased tickets for the show will be shared at a later time.
“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of all involved,” the post concluded.
The Tulsa Police Department shared in a Friday statement via Facebook that they investigated the venue prior to the cancellation of Langley’s show.
“As with any large event, the Tulsa Police Department goes to great lengths to ensure that it is safe for eventgoers and those coming to perform,” the statement read. “Before the event, we swept the area with our K-9, Bomb Team, Patrol and BOK security for anything dangerous. We did not find anything.”
The authorities “swept the building and surrounding area” and “found no credible threat to the event’s safety.”
“We advised the performer’s staff that we found no credible threat to the event, but they decided to cancel the performance anyway,” the statement continued. “We apologize to everyone who came down tonight. We appreciate your patience, and it is unfortunate that some nefarious characters successfully disrupted the event, ruining the evening for thousands of people.”
