Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is sharing thoughts and prayers for teammate Jack Campbell following a frightening injury.

“Jack’s deal was definitely scary,” Goff, 32, said after the Lions played the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, November 1. “It just brings you back to reality for a moment that he’s a husband and a father. Scary. We’re praying for him and hope he’s going to be alright. If anyone is tough enough to get through something like that it’s going to be him.”

Campbell, 26, was seemingly left unable to move in Detroit on Sunday after a tackle against Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson. He was transported off the field, with members of both teams taking a knee in the aftermath of his injury.

The Lions later shared an update via social media, noting that the linebacker was being “evaluated for a neck injury.”

A subsequent statement shared Sunday night revealed more insight into Campbell’s status.

“Jack Campbell is resting and will remain in a local hospital tonight, for continued evaluation and monitoring,” the Lions announced. “The team will provide updates as we have them.”

In a postgame press conference, head coach Dan Campbell said the athlete was “being taken care of,” noting, “Thoughts and prayers are with Jack and his family.”

The Lions eventually defeated the Vikings 19-15. While calling the game on Fox, Tom Brady weighed in on how Jack’s team could return to the field after such a severe moment.

“It’s very difficult for everybody, obviously, but it’s also part of what you’ve been doing your whole life,” he said as play resumed. “He’s under great medical care and attention and you have to go back out there and do your job.”

Sideline commentator Erin Andrews also spoke candidly on what Jack means to the Lions organization after a conversation with one of his teammates.

“He said, ‘This is Jack Campbell’s defense.’ I don’t hesitate to say that it goes through him and everyone in that locker room knows that,” Andrews, 48, said on Sunday. “Point blank period.”

The Lions selected Jack, an All-American player during his time on the Iowa Hawkeyes, in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He married his college sweetheart, Megan, in 2024. The couple welcomed their first child, son Cooper, in July.

Megan was seen joining her husband at field level after his injury on Sunday and accompanied him in the ambulance.
