MIAMI — Harrowing 911 calls have revealed the moments after a Florida mom was left with her arm “dangling off” when she was savagely attacked by an alligator in a river.
Dina Spann, 58, suffered horrendous injuries to her right arm and left hand during a family boating trip on the Silver River in Florida’s Marion County on Aug. 8.
“Somebody got bit by an alligator, I think her arm got bit –– it’s dangling off,” a woman can be heard telling the operator in two desperate emergency calls obtained by The Post.
“She lost half an arm,” the woman can be heard saying.
As the woman screams to other bystanders as they try to get the victim victim onto a boat, the operator asks if the arm was amputated, to which the caller replies, “I think so.”
In a second 911 call, a woman can be heard screaming and crying while a man tells the operator that they are on the Silver River.
“Her arm is gone,” the man tells the operator.
Spann’s son, Zach Guerrina, previously told The Post in August how his mom’s arm was left “hanging by a thread” after the onslaught.
Guerrina said Spann, who is retired, fought back with her bare hands and lost part of her left ring finger before the gator locked onto her right forearm.
“She wasn’t just letting it happen,” he said. “She was trying to hold its mouth shut, swimming to the top to get a breath of fresh air and keep it from biting on her legs.
“It had her but she said she was trying to make sure it didn’t get to her legs.”
Trappers contracted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) removed a 9-foot, 8-inch alligator the day after attack before reopening the river to the public.
Guerrina, 38, a dad of five who works as a carpenter, had left his mom floating in the river with two teenage relatives and his brother’s girlfriend just minutes before the beast lunged.
Onlookers came to her aid and used Spann’s bikini top and a rope as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding from her right arm, he said.
Spann revealed the extent of her injuries in a video posted on Facebook in September showing her right arm amputated below the elbow and the ring finger from her left hand missing.
“The gator got a piece of me. It didn’t get the best of me,” she wrote.
The attack on Spann came just weeks after hiker Brittany Clark was killed by a massive, 13-foot gator while swimming in the Econlockhatchee River at Little Big Econ State Forest on June 28.
An 11-year-old boy also lost his hand in June after a gator chomped on it while he was on a fishing trip with his dad.
Brodie Terry, from Pennsylvania, was attacked in Marion County on June 27 by an 8-foot, 7-inch gator that struck when he was about to release a fish back into the water.
Last month, Steven Hamilton, 71, of Winter Garden, was killed by a 12-foot alligator while fishing on the shoreline of Lake Apopka, around 15 miles northwest of Orlando.
His autopsy revealed he suffered “blunt force” leg injuries as he was being dragged to the water before being submerged on Oct. 16.
