UFC CEO Dana White is taking President Donald Trump‘s job offer very seriously.
“I’m flying to Washington, D.C., right now,” White, 57, confirmed to reporters after attending a Saturday, November 7, Zuffa boxing event in London.
Earlier on Saturday, Trump, 80, publicly asked White to become his next White House Press Secretary following Katie Zacharia‘s resignation after just five days on the job in October.
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States,” Trump wrote via his social media platform, Truth Social. “I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris.”
On top of being a “violent fighter and warrior,” Trump suggested that White himself would be bold enough to take on the Democrats following their sweeping midterm election wins on Tuesday, November 3.
“Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job,” Trump begged.
Hours later, White was asked at a Zuffa press conference whether he was seriously considering Trump’s job offer.
“I’ve got a lot of jobs already,” White admitted.
Asked to share “some of the conversations” he’s had with Trump about the position, White replied, “No. I’m going to meet with him. We have a meeting on Monday so I’m sure I’ll have more to talk about.”
Trump and White have long been close, with the president having attended multiple UFC events over the years. White endorsed Trump’s presidential campaigns in 2016, 2020 and 2024.
In June, Trump partnered with White to host the UFC Freedom 250 event on the South Lawn of the White House as part of the administration’s celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary.
The decision to hold a combat sports event at the White House was controversial long before the first punch was thrown but UFC Freedom 250 ultimately drew even more negative headlines due to fighter Josh Hokit calling former first lady Michelle Obama “a man” during his post-fight interview.
White condemned Hokit’s outburst, texting Time the following day, “I understand that the Obama’s [sic] are public figures but I’m completely against saying nasty and false things about people’s families. Everyone knows my position on free speech but I hate that kind of nonsense.”
Meanwhile, former White House Press Secretary Zacharia, 41, raised eyebrows following her firing by asking for another chance to work for Trump. (Hours before Zacharia’s White House firing, Trump publicly questioned whether she was a good fit for the job while speaking to reporters.)
“I would love to work for him again in that capacity or another capacity,” Zacharia told Piers Morgan Uncensored in October. “Again, he is the most consequential president in history, and I have always been a history buff. I have watched what he’s done for this country, and it will secure the futures of my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. So, if I am asked to serve, even in a capacity that is not as rewarding, perhaps, I will absolutely step up to that.”
Zacharia’s predecessor, Karoline Leavitt, left the job in August after welcoming daughter Viviana with her husband Nicholas Riccio in May. (The couple also share a son, Niko, 2.)
