And Just Like That season 3 is heating up at a dangerous pace — and so is Lisa Todd Wexley’s “work crush.”
During the Thursday, July 17, episode of the Sex and the City spinoff, Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker) confesses to Charlotte (Kristin Davis) that she had a steamy dream about her colleague Marion (Mehcad Brooks), an editor on her docuseries.
“I had a sex dream about my editor last night, it was very explicit and I woke up very turned on,” Lisa says while on a walk with Charlotte, who of course asks for details. “We were on a farm and he was working for me.”
Lisa goes on to wonder, “Why is this happening? I have a really great sex life with my very sexy husband. So why is Marion ripping my bodice off in a field?”
Charlotte reassures her that it was “just a dream,” adding, “I don’t really think you need to feel guilty about a dream. … [My sex dreams have] nothing to do with reality because sometimes in those dreams, I have short hair.”
Lisa takes her confession one step further, telling Charlotte, “Sometimes I flirt with him while we’re working. I mean, it’s nothing overtly sexual, but there’s an unspoken energy between us and I feel it. And I think he does too.”
When Charlotte suggests the duo could just have a powerful creative connection, Lisa agrees. “Yes! Thank you for saying that, you’re right,” she says. “We’re flirting while working. We’re ‘flirking.’”
Later, Lisa and Marion are eating lunch together at the office when he says that he was in the mood for “something different” than his usual salad. Lisa can’t relate, replying, “I’m fine with what I have,” in a not-so-subtle nod to staying loyal to her husband.
Marion then hints that he was “thinking about” Lisa the night before. He invites her to a screening of a documentary produced by the Obamas in hopes of getting one step closer to Michelle participating in their own project. Lisa initially declines, but the opportunity to “trap someone” from the production company is ultimately too good to pass up. She bails on Charlotte’s gallery opening — and a dinner date with her husband — and joins Marion instead.
While sitting next to each other in the theater, Marion’s leg brushes Lisa’s — and she leaves in a hurry.
“It’s going past ‘flirking,’ Charlotte,” she says over the phone after her abrupt exit. “It’s now flirting. … His leg touched my leg. And not at work. I played with fire. I feel like the worst wife and mother.”
Before Charlotte can respond, Marion calls Lisa and introduces her to the important producer.
Parker previously played coy about Lisa’s “work crush” conflict in an exclusive Us Weekly cover story interview ahead of the season 3 premiere.
“I can’t say a word,” she teased in May, joking that she “signed so many documents” not to spoil any story lines.
The actress did, however, praise the writers for pushing the envelope. “They really established the Wexleys [as a couple] … and they put a little danger in there,” she told Us.
And Just Like That airs on HBO Max Thursdays at 9 p.m ET.
