Anna Camp didn’t expect her relationship with Jade Whipkey to be such a huge deal.
“We’re definitely surprised by all of the attention, to be totally honest,” Camp, 42, told Cosmopolitan on the red carpet at the 2025 Mediterrane Film Festival’s Golden Bee Awards in Malta on Sunday, June 29. “We’ve been a bit surprised by all of the hubbub, but there’s been a lot of support so we’re very grateful and thankful for everybody who is supportive of us. It’s lovely.”
Camp added, “We’re so happy together. It’s just been such a wonderful, transformative time in my life. I’m so thankful to have her by my side.”
Prior to her relationship with Whipkey, 24, Camp was married to Michael Mosley from 2010 to 2013 and Skylar Astin from 2016 to 2019.
Camp and Whipkey sparked romance rumors in February when a resurfaced TikTok video showed the pair in a joint interview with a content creator. When asked about their worst dating stories and expectations from men on dates, Camp responded, “Well, I don’t expect anything anymore because I like women and it’s great.”
Reflecting on one of her worst dates, Camp said, “I left a date once because a guy was, like, 45 minutes late, and I stayed and waited. Then he said that I was prettier in a movie than I was in person, because I’m an actor, and I was like, ‘OK, bye.’”
She was also asked about life’s “biggest conspiracies.”
Camp responded, “That in order to be happy you have to be married to a guy, with children, at, like, 30 or something. That’s a conspiracy. That’s not true. I grew up in the South and people told me that I basically had to do that.”
Camp and Whipkey began interacting with each other in flirty social media comments that same month, adding fuel to the dating speculation. Whipkey then appeared in a photo on Camp’s page in March, with the Pitch Perfect star captioning the post, “Happiness lately happening 💫🌵.”
The pair confirmed their romance in May when they were spotted kissing in Los Angeles, as seen in photos obtained by Us Weekly. Weeks later, Camp and Whipkey made their red carpet debut at the premiere of the former’s film Bride Hard in L.A. They also attended the reveal of Camp’s Palm Springs Life magazine cover together.
“You are the easiest person to celebrate and the sweetest to love ❤️ See you on the cover of @voguemagazine next #mermaids,” Whipkey captioned photos from the outing shared via Instagram.
In June, Camp fired back at haters who criticized her 18-year age gap with Whipkey.
“I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them,” she wrote in an Instagram comment. “We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything ♥️.”
Camp continued, “Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I’m wishing everyone well, especially this Pride month 🌈.”
Camp also recently shared cartoon-style artwork from a fan depicting herself and Whipkey holding hands.
“Ok this is adorable,” she wrote as she reposted the image via her Instagram Story.
The artist captioned the image, “Love them so much! This one is for the lovely @jadewhipkey and @therealannacamp 🏳️🌈🩷🥰 There is definitely more to come! Also welcome, Jade🥺✨ Sending hugs and love to you two! // #annacamp #jadewhipkey.”
