Bachelor Nation alum Hannah Ann Sluss received a pricey hospital bill after giving birth to her first baby.

“I gave birth a month ago to our little baby boy, and we received our hospital bill,” Sluss, 29, said in a Tuesday, December 23, video shared via TikTok. “I wanted to run through exactly how much it cost us.”

Sluss stayed at the hospital for less than three days.

“I checked in on a Wednesday night, had him early Thursday morning and then left Friday by that afternoon,” she stated. “It was very quick. Starting off with the delivery room, it was $8,366, [and the] OB second bed was $5,850. I’m assuming that’s the postpartum room that they had me in. That’s really expensive for one night.”

Hannah Ann Sluss is shocked at how well she’s adapting to motherhood, revealing the “most surprising” and “rewarding” parts of being a first-time parent after welcoming her son, Lucas, with her husband, Jake Funk, last month. “One thing that surprised me the most about motherhood is just how much, as women, we can take on, […]

According to Sluss, the $5,000-a-night room was the “most expensive hotel” she had ever stayed at. The former Bachelor winner was also charged $3,681 in pharmacy costs.

“I don’t know why I did this to myself, but after I gave birth, I remember the nurse asking me if I wanted Motrin,” Sluss recalled. “I had already had an epidural, and I was, like, ‘I wanna detox everything.’ I was insane because a few hours later I started having really bad pain down there.”

Sluss had a “second-degree tear” from giving birth to son Lucas, which was the source of her unexpected pain.

“So, [I was] definitely down to that Motrin as soon as I could,” she said, adding there was a $3,000 fee for “O.R. services” and a $473 cost for “lab hematology.”

Sluss continued, “Laboratory [cost was] $372, IV solutions $235, drugs and pharmacy $20.93, that must have been the Motrin. Total charges [were] $22,000.92. We paid $104.”

Sluss and her husband Jake Funk’s hospital bill also included the cost of an epidural, which totaled $7,500.

“We paid $840 of that, which was so worth it,” she noted. “I would have honestly probably paid whatever. We haven’t gotten any bills for [my son] yet. I don’t know, am I gonna get hit with something else? Yeah, that’s how much it costs to have a baby in the United States.”

Despite the steep cost of her delivery, Sluss was profoundly grateful that the experience went smoothly.

“I am so thankful for the incredible doctors, nurses and care that made it all worth it,” she captioned her social media video. “Thank you isn’t enough!!! 🙏.”

Sluss has since learned a lot in the few short weeks since Lucas’ arrival.

“One thing that surprised me the most about motherhood is just how much, as women, we can take on, physically, mentally, emotionally,” she exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “You go from the biggest change, physical change and emotional change of your life to then immediately having to take care of another life.”

Sluss added, “I’ve been surprised by how much I can push through pain and really work and thrive off of very minimal sleep.”

The reality TV alum further gushed that she and Funk, 27, are “enjoying [their] newborn bubble” this holiday season.

“For this Christmas, it’s just going to be our little family,” she told Us, noting they decorated a tree with an ornament to commemorate Lucas’ birth. “It’s going to be so fun to be able to have a tree that tells our family story.”
