Bridget Fonda and Husband Danny Elfman’s Relationship Timeline

Bridget Fonda and Danny Eflman have largely kept their love life out of the spotlight through the years.

The couple exchanged vows in 2003, welcoming son Oliver two years later. Fonda and Elfman ultimately took a step back from the spotlight to raise their son. (Fonda hails from the famous family — which includes dad Peter, grandfather Henry and aunt Jane and rose to fame as a major star in the 90s and 2000s.)

When asked by paparazzi whether she would return to Hollywood, Fonda declined the idea. “No,” Fonda said in 2023, per the New York Post. “I don’t think so, it’s too nice being a civilian.”

Elfman, for his part, has continued his career as a composer. In 2024, Elfman collaborated with filmmaker Tim Burton when he composed Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

“You know, my wife once said to me, and she really summed it up properly, she said, ‘You’re on a high wire without a safety net every time you go out there.’ I think that’s really true,” Elfman reflected on his career to The Talks in 2022. “Part of me must love the fact that there’s no net. If I f*** up, it’s really gonna be a nasty f*** up. When I’m on stage for whatever kind of show, there’s a million reasons why things could fuck up; I make my shows, it seems, as difficult as possible. And I think that must be something I’m hooked on.”

2003

Fonda and Elfman tied the knot at Los Angeles’s First Congressional Church, People reported at the time.

2005

The couple welcomed son Oliver in 2005.

2016

Elfman initially faced sexual misconduct allegations in 2016 by composer Nomi Abadi, which he later claimed were intended to end his marriage. It was later settled for $830,000. Abadi went on to file a breach of contract lawsuit in July 2023, with the Rolling Stone reporting that she claimed Elfman failed to deliver multiple payments from the previous settlement.

He also faced a second lawsuit from an anonymous accuser in 2023, which he denied. “The allegations of misconduct made against Mr. Elfman are baseless and absurd,” his team said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter at the time. The lawsuit was tossed from L.A. Superior Court in 2024, per Rolling Stone.

In 2024, he was sued by Abadai for alleging defamation in a response to a statement he made to Rolling Stone in 2023. “I allowed someone to get close to me without knowing that I was her ‘childhood crush’ and that her intention was to break up my marriage and replace my wife,” he said at the time. “When this person realized that I wanted distance from her, she made it clear that I would pay for having rejected her. I allowed an ill-advised friendship to have far-reaching consequences, and that error in judgment is entirely my fault.”

After Elfman moved to dismiss the lawsuit, L.A. Superior Court judge Gail Killefer ruled in January 2025 that Abadi’s defamation suit would move forward. Variety reported that there has been no trial date set.

2020

Fonda and Elfman sold one of their Los Angeles properties for $8.75 million, per the Los Angeles Times.

May 2025

The pair made a rare joint appearance outside their Los Angeles home, with Fonda smiling as she carried bags. This marked their first time being spotted in over a decade.
