Dakota Johnson Spotted Without Engagement Ring in 1st Sighting Amid Reported Chris Martin Split

Dakota Johnson was spotted without her engagement ring in her first public appearance amid reports that she has separated from Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

The Daily Mail obtained pictures of the Madame Web actress, 35, taking a stroll through New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood on Wednesday, June 4, sans the emerald engagement ring she has been seen wearing in the past.

For the occasion, Johnson kept things low-key, wearing a sleeveless tan top, oversized brown pants and a large sunhat.

The actress was spotted in Tribeca on Wednesday, just hours before People reported that she and Martin, 48, had recently split after nearly eight years together. (Us Weekly reached out to reps for both stars on Wednesday.)

In recent months, the stars have faced speculation about the status of their relationship. Despite supporting Martin during his summer 2024 tour with Coldplay, Johnson raised eyebrows when she was spotted without her engagement ring in Los Angeles.

Johnson’s rep, however, denied there were any issues, telling Us in August 2024, “The reports are not true. They are happily together.”

The couple was last seen publicly together in Malibu last month. Martin and Johnson were photographed holding hands in India at the beginning of the year. During the trip, the pair were filmed participating in a religious ceremony at Mumbai’s Hindu House of Prayer Babulnath Temple.

Martin and Johnson have been linked together since December 2017, following his divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow. The notoriously private couple — who were rarely photographed together — briefly broke up in the summer of 2019.

Martin and Johnson, however, got back together one month later with a little help from Paltrow, 52.

“Gwyneth is the one who pushed them to do it,” a source told Us in August 2019.

In January 2020, Paltrow confirmed her love and respect for Martin’s new flame during a candid interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

“I love her,” the Goop founder shared with the publication. “I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her.”

Exes Martin and Paltrow share two children: daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19.
