As family drama continues to unfold, fans are zeroing in on a personal tribute that David Beckham has carried with him for decades — his children’s names, permanently etched on his body.
Longtime followers of the soccer star are revisiting David’s tattoos, including the lower back ink dedicated to his eldest son and first child, Brooklyn Beckham. The lettering in classic gothic script style, which was done years ago after Brooklyn was born in March 1999, resurfaced on social media after the now 26-year-old posted about their strained relationship dynamic.
“David Beckham’s tramp stamp of his son name Brooklyn,” one social media user posted via X on Tuesday, January 20, in a tweet that has garnered more than 2.5 million views.
A follow-up post from the same account noted that he also tattooed sons Romeo and Cruz’s name in the same font on his back. Romeo’s name is just below the cross on his neck, while Cruz is in the middle of his back. (Romeo was born in September 2002 and Cruz was born in February 2005. In addition to his three boys, David, 50, and his wife, Victoria Beckham, share a daughter Harper, born in July 2011. David and Victoria, 51, have been married since July 1999.)
David has a number of family-related tattoos, including “Posh” for his wife, Victoria, on his finger, as well as his daughter Harper’s name on his neck next to the phrase “Pretty Lady” with a heart.
The Beckham family made headlines this week when Brooklyn took to Instagram to speak out about the ongoing rift with his parents amid his marriage to Nicola Peltz Beckham.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” he wrote in a post shared via Instagram Stories on Monday, January 19. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed. I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
Brooklyn alleged that the retired athlete and former Spice Girls singer “have controlled narratives in the press about our family” for his “entire life,” claiming they have also been interfering in his marriage with Nicola, 31, “since before my wedding [in April 2022], and it hasn’t stopped.”
“The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of the innocent people, to preserve their own facade,” he claimed. “But I believe the truth always comes out.”
Brooklyn stated that the night before he and Nicola wed, members of his family allegedly told him that Nicola was “not blood,” further claiming that his bride has been “consistently disrespected” by his brood, “no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one.” He also vehemently denied the “narrative” that his wife controls him, calling the notion “completely backwards” while stating that he ultimately found peace by distancing himself from his family.
David and Victoria have yet to publicly address Brooklyn’s claims. Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for David and Victoria for comment.
