A heavily armed driver with assault rifles attached to his car was shot by cops after jumping out and opening fire at them in New Jersey, according to reports.

The unidentified suspect was cornered Monday near Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation in Byram — about a half-hour east of the Delaware Water Gap — with pics showing what appear to be rifles on the roof and trunk of a red sedan.

He jumped out of the vehicle and shot at cops, who returned fire, according to New Jersey 101.5.

The suspect appears to have affixed several assault weapons to his car.

He was shot in the neck and rushed to a nearby hospital, a law enforcement source told NBC New York, saying it was not immediately clear if he was hit by the cops’ bullets or had shot himself, the source said.

Several officers were taken to a hospital for evaluation, according to the New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association (PBA).

“Please pray for the officers involved,” the union said in a social media post. “Thank you to all who reached out to check on our officers.”

It’s unclear who called authorities to the forested site, or why.

Byram Mayor Alex Rubenstein said town officials were “limited in what we can say at this time,” without explaining why.

“However, we can say that all of our officers are safe and there is absolutely no threat to the public in any regard,” he said.

“All we ask tonight is that you keep the officers and staff of the Byram Township Police Department in your thoughts and wait for further official information to come out over the next few days.”

The Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police are investigating the incident.
