Dwight Howard’s estranged wife, Amber Howard, made shocking claims against the ex-NBA star in a since-dismissed protective order petition, Us Weekly can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by Us, on June 27, Amber filed for a family violence ex parte protective order accusing him of slipping her a drug and getting physical with her during an argument. Dwight adamantly denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

Amber claimed there was an “established pattern of behavior by [Dwight] involving acts of family violence.” She alleged Dwight had a “pattern of continued substance abuse which has caused family violence in the past.”

“Whenever my husband gets upset he locks me out of our home,” Amber claimed. “I have called the police a few times because my husband [changed the] gate code to our home, stopping me from entering home.”

NBA star Anthony Edwards’ ex Ayesha Howard accused him of dragging out their court battle after allegedly agreeing to give her sole custody, Us Weekly can exclusively report. On June 25, Howard filed a declaration as part of her lawsuit against the Minnesota Timberwolves star over their daughter, Aubri, claiming, in part, that Edwards’ legal […]

Amber continued, “He has physically tried to remove me out of our bedroom by pushing me in the back trying to forcible [sic] push me out of our bedroom.”

She alleged, “In the middle of an argument, my husband has laid on top of me stopping me from getting up using all of his body weight.”

In the petition, Amber also accused Dwight of slipping her a drug. “He has given me something he claimed was a holistic tea and it was really a drug called Molly.”

“I was extremely sick and begged him to call [an] EMT and he refused,” she alleged. She also checked a box alleging Dwight assaulted her when drunk or high. Amber also claimed Dwight was “obsessive” and has shown excessive jealousy.

She added that the former Dancing with the Stars contestant had a gun in his home that was readily accessible. Amber requested exclusive use of his $11 million Georgia mansion.

The court decided to grant the temporary protective order, but Amber then decided not to go forward with it “at this time.”

Dwight’s lawyer Gillian B. Fierer tells Us, “Unfortunately, since the beginning of the parties’ relationship, [Amber] has manufactured truths and manipulated reality. It is she who has been volatile, aggressive, and assaultive toward [Dwight]. [Amber] filed a patently false family violence action and then did not pursue that action against [Dwight] because [Dwight] has never done anything remotely assaultive in nature to [Amber], and she would not have been able to prove otherwise.”

She added, “We are disappointed that what should have been a very simple divorce due to the short nature of this marriage is now being expanded into contentious litigation, but this behavior and these actions are consistent with [Amber] character, or lack thereof.”

“[Dwight] emphatically denies [Amber’s] claims, and we look forward to the truth being revealed. [Dwight] looks forward to moving on with his life, away from [Amber] and her flagrant misrepresentations,” she ended.

As Us previously reported, earlier this month, Amber filed for divorce on July 1. She listed the date of marriage as January 11, 2025. She said she was entitled to a divorce due to the marriage being “irretrievably broken.”

She said they had no children and none were expected. She asked that all real property and all personal property be equitably divided by the court. In addition, she requested alimony in the form of a lump-sum or regular payments.

Us obtained new court documents that show Dwight filed for divorce from Amber (but listed her name as Amber Rose Pouncy) on June 27. He said he was entitled to a full divorce due to fraud and “cruel treatment” by Amber.

He listed the same date of marriage and used the same lawyer he used in an unrelated custody battle. Dwight asked for his separate property to be awarded to him.

The former NBA star also asked for temporary and exclusive use and possession of his mansion that he purchased prior to the marriage. He also asked that she be restrained from selling off any of the marital property.

Both cases are ongoing.
