Ellen DeGeneres gave Us a rare glimpse into her new life in the U.K. with her wife, Portia de Rossi.
On Monday, April 21, DeGeneres, 67, took to Instagram to share a photo of de Rossi, 52, in the English countryside taking a photo of a rainbow in the sky.
“3 things that make me happy: My Wife, A Rainbow, And my wife taking a photograph of a Rainbow,” the former The Ellen DeGeneres Show host captioned the picture.
In November, TMZ reported that DeGeneres and deRossi, who have been married for 16 years, moved out of their Montecito, California, home and relocated to the Cotswolds, a rural region of England about two hours outside of London.
According to the report, the pair planned to sell their California property and are figuring out how much they should ask for it. They sold their other mansion, a 10-acre property in Santa Barbara County, for $96 million in August 2024.
That same month that news broke of their relocation, an eyewitness told Us Weekly that they spotted DeGeneres at the famed U.K. hotspot Soho Farmhouse.
“She was with two female friends walking from the car park towards the buildings where the clubhouse is — we passed on a stone bridge over a stream,” the guest shared with Us. “She was dressed in a country casual way. She was super understated and no one was really paying much attention to her … but then you just don’t expect to see Ellen there as it’s more a haunt of U.K. celebrities.”
Another local told Us that DeGeneres is “definitely a lot less well-known” in the U.K. but “she’s still famous.”
“People know who she is but the thing about the Cotswolds is no one gives a f— if you’re Kate Moss or the farmer’s wife,” the source noted.
DeGeneres and de Rossi have yet to publicly reveal the reasons behind their move to the U.K.
Prior to moving to England, DeGeneres concluded her “Ellen’s Last Stand” tour in July 2024 — and released the Netflix special, For Your Approval.
In the special, DeGeneres addressed being “kicked out of show business” following the toxic workplace allegations that surfaced around her time hosting The Ellen DeGeneres Show from 2003 to 2022.
“I’m proud of who I’ve become,” DeGeneres explained in the special about her life after the allegations. “[I’m] just a multifaceted person with different feelings and emotions, and I can be happy and sad and compassionate or frustrated. I have OCD and ADD. I’m honest. I’m generous. I’m sensitive and thoughtful. But I’m tough and I’m impatient and I’m demanding. I’m direct. I’m a strong woman.”
