After four years of waiting, the third season of Euphoria is almost here.

The new season takes place five years after the events of season 3, with the once-teenage lead characters now young adults navigating a messed-up world.

Season 2 of HBO Max‘s hit teen soap opera ended with multiple major cliffhangers, so season 3 will deal with the consequences of the season 2 finale.

The trailer for Euphoria season 3 makes the new (and final) season look more like crime thriller vibes, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Read on for Watch With Us‘ guide on what you need to know ahead of the season 3 premiere.

What Happened in ‘Euphoria’ Season 2?

Season 2 of Euphoria ended on multiple cliffhangers. After a two-year hiatus following the first season, the plot saw Rue (Zendaya) as she relapsed following a lengthy period of sobriety — which greatly complicated her relationship with Jules (Hunter Schafer) — and got in way over her head with a powerful drug dealer named Laurie (Martha Kelly). Meanwhile, Cassie and McKay (Algee Smith) called it quits, and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) entered into a contentious relationship with her best friend Maddy’s (Alexa Demie) ex-boyfriend Nate (Jacob Elordi).

The season concluded with a massive shoot-out involving Fezco (Angus Cloud, who tragically passed away in 2023) and his child enforcer Ashtray (Javon “Wanna” Walton), Nate calling the police on his own dad (Eric Dane) for his underage affairs, after his dad dramatically walked out on their family after coming out of the closet, and Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) ambitious play that caused everyone to rethink their entire lives. However, Rue ends the season on a hopeful note that she will remain committed to sobriety.

What’s Going to Happen in ‘Euphoria’ Season 3?

As we mentioned, season 3 of Euphoria takes place five years after the events of season 2, so our characters are no longer in high school and will instead be navigating the difficult world of adulthood. As the troubled former high schoolers now hit their 20s, their troubles have only continued to follow them. Rue is essentially in indentured servitude to Laura over the debts she owes her.

Meanwhile, Nate has taken over his father’s real estate business and is engaged to be married to Cassie, who is now striving to be an OnlyFans model. At the same time, Maddy has become a talent manager, Lexi is working in TV production and Jules has become a sugar baby.
