Chelsea missed the chance to go top of the Premier League as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton at Goodison Park.

The windy conditions played their part in a scrappy affair, which saw the Blues fail to score in the league for the first time in 16 matches.

Chelsea’s best chances of the match fell to Nicolas Jackson in the opening period with the forward being denied at close-range by Jordan Pickford before his header from a corner glanced the upright.

Everton failed to create anything of note in the first half but went close in the second as Robert Sanchez produced a superb stop to deny Jack Harrison from inside the box before Tosin Adarabioyo’s excellent block kept out Iliman Ndiaye from a matter of yards.

The result sees Chelsea miss the chance to leapfrog Liverpool into first ahead of their trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon and the Blues instead remain one point behind the leaders.

As for Sean Dyche’s men, they move up 15th ahead of Crystal Palace on goal difference and with a game in hand on the Eagles.
