Taylor Sheridan‘s Landman introduced some shocking twists and turns — but where would season 3 go after Demi Moore‘s Cami fired Billy Bob Thornton‘s character Tommy?

Landman, which premiered in November 2024, is Sheridan’s newest hit series, joining the ranks of Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lawmen: Bass Reeves and Lioness. Based on the “Boomtown” podcast from creator Christian Wallace, Landman introduced Thornton as a corporate fixer working for an oil titan (Jon Hamm) in a West Texas-set drama with life-and-death stakes.

As the first season came to an end, Monty was killed off, setting up Moore’s Cami as the new lead.

“You kind of drop these little pieces throughout the entire season,” executive producer Christian Wallace told TV Insider in January 2025 while reflecting on the major plot twist. “There’s Monty checking his heart rate on his watch or his wife Cami telling him no more coffee and just little things that were dropped this entire time to kind of let you know that something’s going on so that when it does finally happen, it’s not just completely out of nowhere.”

Taylor Sheridan‘s hit series Landman was renewed for season 3 — but which stars are and aren’t returning after that shocking firing? Inspired by the “Boomtown” podcast series, Landman is focused on the West Texas oil industry with a specific focus on crisis executive Tommy Norris and his family. He continued: “But you also don’t wanna be too heavy-handed about it and just telegraph that explicitly to the viewers. So it’s just kind of a matter of trying to strike that balance of letting people know that there’s an issue without making it just the only thing that they can think about.”

Season 3, which has already been renewed, is expected to pick up in the aftermath of Cami firing Tommy as president of M-Tex Oil. Keep scrolling for everything to know about season 3 so far:

Has ‘Landman’ Been Renewed?

Paramount+ renewed Landman before season 2 wrapped up in January 2026. The second season became the top three series among all original content in November 2025 and later a top two series. Season 2 also struck viewership records for Paramount+ when achieving over 9.2 million streaming views for its premiere episode in the first two days.

Who Would Reprise Their Characters?

Thornton, Moore, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Kayla Wallace, Paulina Chávez, James Jordan and Colm Feore are expected to return. Newcomers Andy Garcia and Sam Elliott will continue to play a large role in season 3.

The second season also introduced Us to Guy Burnet and Francesca Xuereb but it remains to be seen if they will return.

How Will Season 3 Address Ariana’s Sexual Assault?

Before season 2 came to an end, Ariana was attacked by an unruly customer. Ariana’s fiancé, Cooper (Lofland), saved her just in time and beat the man.

“I do believe that Cooper and Ariana are two people that are gonna fight for each other no matter what. I think with any relationship, you choose the person and you guys choose each other. Anything will bring you closer together and will tear you all apart,” Chávez exclusively told Us Weekly in January 2026. “For Ariana, she’s not going to let this moment define her. She’s more of a fighter, and thankfully it didn’t traumatize her too much or all the way. But it is an eye-opener for sure with how much the system needs to root for women more and believe women.”

Will Michelle Randolph’s Controversial Character Ainsley Continue to Grow?

Randolph was asked by costar Moore in a joint Interview Magazine profile published in December 2025 about her experience with “a mix of some feminist negativity” and praise for her characters in 1923 and Landman.

“It’s all of the above. I’ve had to stop letting myself get defensive over my character because when you spend so much time in someone else’s head space, you start to understand their logic,” she explained. “For Ainsley [on Landman], I couldn’t be more different than her, but I also adore her. I like to say she’s not dumb, she just has limited life experience, and we’re seeing her in her most formative years.”

Randolph appreciated the challenge, adding, “How lucky to play a character who is continually evolving. It’s challenged me in a lot of ways — what is on the page is so different than what you see on screen. I’ve tried to add in how genuine and sincere she is so there are more redeeming qualities.”

Will There Be More Surprises?

“That’s one thing about a Taylor [Sheridan] show. When things are going too smooth, there’s usually something coming,” Lofland teased to Us in December 2025. “So far, it’s going great. Like I said, they’re navigating it well. We’ll just see how it goes. I think everyone’s going to be excited to watch the rest of the season.”

Where Will Rebecca Continue to Fit In?

Wallace previously told Us what to expect — especially for her character Rebecca.

“People will get to see some more cracks in her personality,” she teased. “And she’s definitely going to face some challenges in the workplace too.”

Wallace specifically pointed out how Rebecca’s elevated role at M-Tex Oil will provide obstacles, saying, “This is such a big change for her. She’s always going to question her life and she’s always going to question everything and reassess.”

But fans shouldn’t be too worried.

“We also see her kind of growing into this family. M-Tex is in trouble and she’s there in an instant,” she noted. “You see this juxtaposition where it is not really a natural thing for her to be a team member. She’s kind of a lone wolf and one for her own but she’s holding onto the family a little bit.”
