Freshman Texas rep wants to pay homage to Trump — by putting his face on $100 bill

A freshman GOP congressman from Texas wants to pay homage to President Trump — by putting his face on the $100 bill once his second term wraps up.

Rep. Brandon Gill introduced the Golden Age Act of 2025 on Monday, a proposal that would require every new $100 bill to showcase Trump’s mug in lieu of Founding Father Benjamin Franklin, who is now so synonymous with the bills that they’re nicknamed “Benjamins.”

“President Trump could be enjoying his golden years golfing and spending time with his family,” said Gill, 31, who was first elected to Congress last year, in a statement.

“Instead, he took a bullet for this country and is now working overtime to secure our border, fix our uneven trade relationship with the rest of the world, make America energy independent again, and put America first by ending useless foreign aid,” Gill said.

But the proposed legislation is very likely to be dead on arrival in the Senate thanks to a Democratic filibuster, which requires 60 votes to overcome it.

The bill marks Gill’s third so far into his tenure.

The bill calls on the Treasury Department to release a new design for the $100 bill by the end of 2026 and mandates that all $100 notes feature Trump’s face by the end of 2028.

Trump, 78, famously loves to draw comparisons between himself and iconic figures in US history.

“I would say I’m far superior to George Washington and Abraham Lincoln,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office with a dead serious look on his face Friday before smirking.

“Look, you know I’m only kidding, right?” he quickly clarified. “Because when I say that, you know the fake news is going to go wild. … But you never know.”

Other Republican lawmakers have sought to flatter Trump in the past with similar pieces of legislation. In January, for example, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) introduced a bill to put Trump’s face on Mount Rushmore.

Politicians across the aisle have made similar claims about key figures in their party as well.

Last year, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) suggested that former President Joe Biden deserved a place on Mount Rushmore after enraging him over her role in efforts to jettison him as the Democrats’ 2024 standard-bearer.

The $100 bill was redesigned in 2010 with a blue ribbon woven near the center of the note intended to make it easier to identify fraud — but it kept Franklin’s face out front.

Alongside the $10 bill, which features Alexander Hamilton, the $100 bill is one of two demoninations still being printed that does not showcase a US president.
