Frightened Royal Caribbean passengers scream as water slide glass suddenly shatters, injuring guest

Dramatic video shows cruise passengers on the Royal Caribbean ship Icon of the Seas screaming after a glass panel of a water slide suddenly shattered, injuring one person.

The chaotic footage from the world’s largest cruise ship shows gallons of water gushing from a gaping hole in the slide, as panicked guests below scream, “Stop the slide!”

Royal Caribbean confirmed that a male guest was injured at the waterpark and received medical attention, without disclosing the nature or severity of the injuries.

“Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water slide as the guest passed through the slide,” a spokesperson told Storyful. “The guest is being treated for his injuries.”

The slide has been closed for the remainder of the trip as the cruise line investigates what went wrong, Royal Caribbean said.

The cruise departed Miami on Aug. 2 and is scheduled to return to port on Saturday after a tour of the Caribbean.
