Teddi Mellencamp is no longer on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but that hasn’t stopped her name from being brought up during season 14.
Garcelle Beauvais stated at the end of the Tuesday, December 10, RHOBH episode that Teddi, 43, would be “thrilled” about her continued name-drops — but let’s recap how we got there. (Teddi did react to this during an interview with Us Weekly exclusively.)
“Dorit, I have a question. You reposted something Teddi wrote,” Garcelle, 58, said during the latest RHOBH installment, alluding to a comment Dorit Kemsley made about the status of her friendship with Teddi which aired during last week’s episode.
“Teddi tagged me on a post promoting her dad’s concert,” Dorit, 48, replied. Kyle Richards explained that the post was a video of some RHOBH cast members singing on stage with Teddi’s dad, John Mellencamp.
Garcelle’s comment circled back to last week’s RHOBH episode. During the first night of the cast’s Oceanside trip, Dorit and Kyle were fighting during a cast dinner — this is where Teddi’s name was first brought up. (Teddi was a RHOBH cast member from 2017 to 2020.)
“Excuse me, we’re all close with her,” Kyle yelled at Dorit across the table during the December 3 episode.
Dorit replied, “I’m not close with her. Her and I are friends, we’re not close.”
During this week’s episode, Garcelle admitted during her confessional she wanted to “call out” Dorit.
“It’s such a hypocritical move,” she continued. “All of a sudden she wants to help Teddi’s dad?”
Dorit, for her part, explained her social media move to the group of women at dinner.
“She tagged me, just like I would ordinarily, I reposted it,” Dorit hit back. Garcelle was quick to respond saying, “When we had just talked about it earlier, and you said you weren’t friends with her.”
Dorit denied saying this. (During the conversation, Erika Jayne and Kyle were discussing, under their breath, if this is what Dorit actually said.)
“I didn’t say I wasn’t friends with her; I said I’m not that close to her,” she said. “I said she’s absolutely my friend. I don’t think she would characterize our friendship as we’re super close, but I was surprised that she tagged me. But I saw it was to promote her father and I’m happy to promote her father’s concert. So, I reposted it.”
Kyle weighed in on the explanation during her confessional.
“Do we really think that Grammy winner, Rock & Rolll Hall of Famer John Mellencamp needs Dorit’s support on Instagram?” she asked. “I don’t think so.”
The entire Teddi conversation came up once again the following day as the women were driving to the airport following the Oceanside girls trip.
Sutton Stracke called out Erika for speaking “quietly” about the conversation about Dorit and Teddi. However, Dorit started a fight with Sutton.
“I just want to clarify this because I don’t remember exactly what I said because I was dealing with Kyle and I,” she said. “I remember saying that I consider Teddi a friend, but I wouldn’t categorize us as close friends.”
Kyle attempted to explain that this was “not about Teddi,” which Sutton started to reiterate. Dorit then raised her voice at Sutton as things got off the rails.
“Dorit doesn’t get that it’s not about Teddi, it’s about that we should be able to call each other out, work through it and move on,” Garcelle said in her confessional, weighing in on the moment. “It’s not about Teddi. Although Teddi will be thrilled.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Bravo Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET and streams the next day on Peacock.
