Gold, Silver Rates Today LIVE: Gold and silver prices on MCX scaled record highs on Wednesday, led by strong buying momentum, following gains in international bullion prices. MCX silver price today also jumped more than 7% to a new peak.

MCX gold price opened 2.12% higher at 1,71,489 per 10 grams as against its previous close of 1,67,921 level. MCX gold rate hit a record high of 1,73,750 level.

MCX silver price opened 2.4% higher at 3,64,821 per kg as against its previous close of 3,56,279 level. MCX silver rate touched a record high of 3,83,100 per kg level, jumping more than 6%.

Comex Gold, Silver Prices

In the international market, gold price surged above $5,200 for the first time, extending gains from over 3% rally in the previous session. Silver prices also surged over 7%, extending the historic rally on rising safe-haven demand amid economic and geopolitical uncertainty.

Spot gold price rose 0.6% to $5,219.97 per ounce, after scaling a record high of $5,224.95 earlier, up more than 20% since the start of the year. US gold futures for February delivery surged 2.6% to $5,216.80 per ounce. Silver futures jumped 7.3% to $113.66 an ounce, while spot silver price was up 1.41% at $113.71 per ounce.

Gains in gold and silver prices were also supported a weak dollar. US dollar plunged to a near four-year low ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decision. Dollar dipped after US President Donald Trump said he was not concerned about a drop in the value of the dollar.
