Golden Bachelor alum Theresa Nist is giving fans a little glimpse as to how her love life is faring following her split from Gerry Turner.
“I absolutely do want to be in a relationship,” Nist, 71, said to hosts Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti during the Thursday, June 5, episode of the “Almost Famous” podcast. “And whether or not I’m in one right now, I’m not prepared to discuss.”
Higgins, 34, and Iaconetti, 37, were shocked by Nist’s impromptu confession and attempted to get the reality TV star to dish on some details. The former Bachelor asked Nist if it was “true or not true” she was dating, to which she replied “true.”
Iaconetti followed up to inquire how many dates Nist has been on with the mystery person — she noted it was “several.”
“Would you or would you not call each other girlfriend and boyfriend?” Iaconetti asked and Nist replied, “Oh my gosh, not yet.”
As for the pair’s last question on the subject, Iaconetti asked how Nist met the man, to which she revealed they connected via a “dating website.”
Bachelor Nation was first introduced to Nist during the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelorette, which aired in 2023. She ultimately won over the heart of Turner, 73, and got engaged in the season finale. The pair tied the knot during ABC’s live The Golden Wedding television special in January 2024. Months later, Turner and Nist announced they were getting a divorce.
Since her split from Turner, Nist has kept details about her love life low-key. When news broke in April that Bachelor in Paradise would be returning and including contestants from both Golden spinoffs, many fans thought Nist would be in the mix. However, Nist revealed on Thursday that she would not be on the series.
“The chronology of events was that I went through all the testing. I was already there, and they took the guys, and then I went back [to producers] and said ‘I really can’t do it,’” she recalled. “But then I actually went back and said, ‘OK, maybe I should give it a shot and then I didn’t get it.”
While Nist wanted to be on Bachelor in Paradise, she ultimately realized she was more excited to reunite with her friends from the show rather than find a love connection with one of the potential suitors.
“I kind of thought it just wasn’t really for me, and I really was so enthusiastic about it when it first came out,” she reflected. “I was talking about who I’d be interested in, and then I realized that I was really just excited about seeing the women and having a reunion and having a vacation with them. So I thought that wasn’t fair to make it about that, and I really didn’t want to go on and pretend or just make up something or make an alliance. And I thought I’d be much better off just watching it.”
