Golfer Jake Knapp’s Girlfriend Was ‘Outed’ For Playing Hooky, Had Relationship Hard Launched on TV

Sometimes being a supportive girlfriend can come with unwanted attention. Makena White, girlfriend of pro golfer Jake Knapp, has learned that the hard way — twice.

White, 28, broke down a pair of unfortunate incidents she encountered while watching Knapp, 31, play golf in a post via X on Wednesday, July 30. It came in response to a post from the PGA Tour, which said, “Share a piece of golf lore about yourself.”

“My (previously very private) relationship was hard launched on national television at the 2024 Mexico Open,” she wrote. “A year later I got outed playing hooky from work on a Thursday cause that same bf shot 59 & photos of us cellying were all over the internet. 2 years of getting sewered.”

Though White and Knapp began dating in the summer of 2023, as she said, they didn’t hard launch their relationship until it was seemingly done for them. Knapp won the Mexico Open the next year, defeating Finnish golfer Sami Välimäki. Not only did the TV cameras capture White’s reaction to her boyfriend’s round, but the PGA Tour shared the video via X.

“From one side of the continent to the other 🇨🇦🇲🇽,” the post read. “@KnappTime_LTD’s girlfriend flew from Canada to Mexico for his final round @MexicoOpenGolf.”

The accompanying video showed her appearing to stifle a laugh as he missed a putt, then the two of them embracing when he finally won.

The PGA Tour account was also on the case in February 2025 when Knapp won the Cognizant Classic, shooting a 59, making him just the 15th player with a sub-60 performance in tour history.

“Jake Knapp’s girlfriend reacting to his 59 is so wholesome 🥹,” their post read, as the video showed an amazed White telling Knapp, “Dude, that was crazy.”

“So, how do you feel about that? How do you feel about that round,” she then asked him, holding her hand in front of him like a microphone. “So proud of you! Good job.”

That video made its rounds on the internet at the time, apparently making its way to White’s employer. White works for Canadian medical device company LeMaitre as a representative, according to her LinkedIn page.

Since going public with their relationship, Knapp hasn’t shied away from showing White on his social channels. Earlier this month, he posted a carousel of photos of her via Instagram in honor of her birthday.

“Happy birthday to the girl that does it all!” he wrote in the caption. “The most supportive, caring, loving and thoughtful person I know. Can’t thank you enough for all you do for me on a daily basis. Nobody loves golf, dogs, working out, sunsets and the occasional sweet treat as much as you do. I love you.”
