Henry Cavill made his first comments about being a dad since welcoming a baby with girlfriend Natalie Viscuso.
In an interview with GQ UK published on Thursday, July 17, the actor, 42, was asked what he considered to be the “most important time of [his] life so far.”
“My daughter being born, and the five of us settling into our forever home,” Cavill responded, referencing himself, Viscuso, their first child and their two dogs.
The Man of Steel star also touched on how he balances family and work with such a busy schedule as an actor.
“Ordinary life? I’m not sure I remember that! Seriously, though, it can be difficult,” he said. “Daily routine is not a luxury that I am afforded, but traveling to far flung places and the opportunity to be storytelling at the level that I am makes up for all of it.”
Cavill also got philosophical about the concept of time during the interview with the British publication.
“[Time] means many, many things. Sometimes I feel like we don’t have enough, and sometimes I feel like we have the perfect amount,” he said. “We can use our time in so many different ways, I try to use it well regardless of how I’m spending it. Spending it — an interesting turn of phrase, no?”
Cavill and Viscuso have kept tight-lipped about the newest addition to their family and did not officially announce her birth.
A source confirmed the baby’s arrival to People after photos published by the Daily Mail in January showed Cavill and Viscuso pushing a stroller in Australia while the actor was Down Under filming the live-action Voltron movie.
Cavill confirmed that he and Viscuso were expecting their first child in April 2024.
“I’m very excited about it,” he told Access Hollywood at the time. “Natalie and I are both very excited. I’m sure you’ll see much more of that.”
When asked whether his Ungentlemanly Warfare costar Henry Golding — who shares two daughters with wife Liv Lo — influenced his decision to become a father, Cavill replied with a laugh, “I mean, he didn’t inspire me to do that. My parents did.”
Posting via his Instagram on Father’s Day 2024, the actor shared a glimpse of the nursery and expressed his excitement about becoming a dad.
“Oh yeah ….. and Happy Father’s Day ye dads out there,” he captioned a selfie. The photo featured a room containing baby essentials such as a crib, changing table and rocking chair. “Turns out I shall be joining your hallowed ranks soon! Any tips??”
