An influencer is facing fierce backlash after posting a series of “disrespectful” hospital TikTok videos showing provocative dances beside her unwell father.
Content creator Athena Paris, 23, posted multiple clips doing popular dances to trending songs right next to her father’s hospital bed.
“Kicking tuberculosis’ a**,” the text overlay in one clip read.
In her caption, Paris described her father’s health scare as the “biggest” her family has faced, claiming she uses dance to get through this tough time.
“I’m just glad God gave me time to come and nurse my father back to health,” she said.
“I HATE HOSPITALS … they are so depressing, so I bring all the energy every time I come. No sadness, only dancing. I strongly believe you can love someone back to health.”
Her father looked visibly drained and sombre in the background as she danced energetically, prompting some viewers to call the act “disturbing,” and “tone-deaf”.
Some commenters accused her of turning a private medical emergency into a personal “content opportunity”.
“How do you make your father’s emergency about you?” one person called out, while someone else wrote, “We’re doomed”.
Reactions even spilt over to Reddit, where a forum titled “I’m the Main Character,” dubbed her videos “vain”.
In her defense, some commenters pointed out, “I guess everyone handles things differently”.
“He needed this more than you will ever know,” another fan praised.
In another clip, Paris was seen bending over her father’s wheelchair, swaying her hips while announcing his heart and liver failure diagnoses.
She told followers, “Day four in the hospital and so far we have identified my dad has heart failure and liver failure. He is going in for a procedure today, and we are being optimistic!
“He is nervous, but I am being strong for him, trying to occupy his mind and make him laugh.”

Again, there was some backlash, but some social media users defended her upbeat approach, saying it could genuinely offer comfort in an otherwise bleak setting.
“You keep being you – that’s all he wants,” one comment read.
Another wrote, “I think you’re amazing. It takes a strong person to be so supportive in the hospital. Keep up the good work”.
In a final update, the influencer shared that her father was being discharged, marking the moment with another TikTok dance next to his hospital bed.
The clip continued the polarising trend, dividing users about whether this was an appropriate setting for her dance moves.
It follows a similar controversy last year involving 22-year-old Bronwin Aurora, who shared a video of herself dancing next to her much older boyfriend, lying in a hospital bed.
She boasted about being included in the 80-year-old’s will and joked about “pulling the plug”.
Her frail partner watched on and seemed either unbothered or unaware of the message she was sending to her audience.
“Is that something to joke about?” asked one person.
A second commented, “I’m going to cry. I hope he gives everything to his kids”.
