Influencer Indy Clinton is explaining her decision to change her daughter’s birthday because the date was too close to Christmas.
“I was actually going to ask you guys for your opinion on something but I’ve already made up my mind so I may as well just tell you because I don’t need your opinion. I just want to let you know what I’m doing as a mother. It made me think, ‘Why don’t more people do this?’ because I actually cannot genuinely think of any reasons why this would be a bad thing,” Clinton said in a Tuesday, December 2, TikTok video.
Clinton, who’s a mom of three, explained that she has decided to alter her youngest child’s birthday to December 12. (Clinton welcomed daughter Soul on December 18, 2023. She previously welcomed son Navy and daughter Bambi in 2020 and 2022, respectively.)
“She was actually just too close to Christmas for my liking, and I just thought, going forward, she’s never going to know we have officially changed it,” Clinton said, before interjecting, “If you see this, can you thank me? Because I’ve done this for attention reasons.”

It’s possible Clinton was joking, as the Australian Taxation Office indicates you can only legally change your birthday in the country if you are correcting an error.
“She wasn’t born on that day, but honestly, who needs to know? I know that she slip-slop-slapped out of me on that day, but nobody else needs to know,” she said. “Genuinely, I cannot think of a reason why this would be bad. I don’t know why more people don’t do it. Genuinely, am I crazy? No, I don’t actually think I’m crazy. I think it’s really smart and nobody else has thought of it.”
While getting close to the camera, Clinton added, “So, I just didn’t want your attention being taken away. You’re welcome.”
“If you were born close to Christmas and your parents were never forward-thinking like me, I’m so sorry,” she captioned the post.
Users took to the comments section to weigh in on the idea, appearing divided by whether she should change the date.
“My birthday is the 24th of Dec, I would wake up on my bday and every bit of xmas was hidden in my Mum and Dads room, we would celebrate my birthday, then at around 4pm the xmas decor came back out and we changed up to xmas! I will cherish those memories forever! I too am the third child! Don’t change the date, learn to make changes for the day,” one user wrote.
Another added, “Do not do this Indy. She’s gonna have to fill out official forms when she’s older and not know her freaking bday.”
Others, however, appeared supportive of Clinton’s decision to alter the little one’s official birthday.
“As someone born in December (the 15th), I think the 12th is still too close. From personal experience. If [you’re] going to move it, move it all the way back to November,” one user wrote, while another added, “Feels! As 32 year old woman I changed my bday from 30th December to middle of the year … not crazy!”
Clinton’s video comes days after she addressed a user who claimed she “looked cracked out” at the TikTok awards, where she said the comment was “untrue.”
