Influencer Isaac Efraín Valadez was found dead inside his truck with gunshot wounds. He was 44.
The content creator, who was known online as “Chakin Valadez,” was discovered on Saturday, January 10. Local newspaper El Heraldo de México reported that authorities in Ensenada, Mexico, were alerted to an armed attack on Saturday and found Valadez dead at the scene before 7 a.m. The outlet reported that at least seven shots were fired.
The Baja California State Attorney General’s Office has not made any arrests in connection with Valadez’s death, according to the outlet.
Valadez was reportedly a package delivery driver who also had more than 165,000 followers on Facebook, where he documented his travels through Mexico.
Valadez appeared to last update his social media hours before his death, sharing a video in the late evening of Friday, January 9. In the clip, Valadez drove to the town of Cataviña and commented on the strong winds, per People.
He also shared an eerie message via Facebook that said his trip seemed “to be the last one.”
“But we gonna enjoy it like it’s the first of the year,” he wrote in the caption, translated to English. “Nothing is as real as the speed that persists when looking or feeling through the windows of the soul.”
Users took to the comments section of Valadez’s final post to share their condolences after his death made headlines.
“Such sad news, I still can’t believe the news!! just on my recent trip to Mexicali I was telling my relatives about the videos chakin was uploading and how nice he was as a person, the beautiful family he had. It’s news you don’t expect. My deepest condolences to his wife and his entire family. I’m so sorry!! D.E.P. Chakin Valadez I wish it was a lie. ,” one user wrote via Facebook.
Another added, “I was lucky enough to meet and work for a while with [Chakin]. He was an honest [hard worker] and always with a big smile. What a dog world… so sorry for your family…. Rest in the greatest friend my best wishes for your family and my condolences. What pain it gives me to think about you, my little daughter… What an unfair world…. God bless your family my good [Chakin].”
Details regarding a service for Valadez on Tuesday, January 13, were shared in a post after his death. The burial took place one day later, on Wednesday, January 14.
“With profound sorrow, the Valadez González and Valadez Aguilar families invite the community at large — family members, friends, and followers — to pay tribute to his life and bid farewell to our beloved,” a translated Facebook message read.
The message continued, “Today you rest in the arms of our ‘Holy Heavenly Father.’ We keep your joy, your unbreakable will, your unconditional love, and the echo of your voice saying: ‘Scrub yourself, you still have soap on you!’ You will live forever in our hearts.”
