Jamie Erdahl was back on Good Morning Football on Monday, March 16, after taking time off to address a family health situation.
“It’s fantastic to see your face here on JMFB, Jamie Morning Football,” co-host Kyle Brandt joked on the NFL Network show. “We’ve missed you, we love that you’re here. Nothing has changed in the NFL, it’s no big deal, there’s been nothing weird, there’s been nothing exciting. You missed nothing — you missed a lot Jamie!”
“Great to have you back,” the Good Morning Football X account posted on Monday alongside the video of her return.
Erdahl, 37, took a brief leave of absence from the show, keeping the details about why mostly to herself.
“Since curiosity is mounting I’ll share what I feel comfortable with: I have been away from @GMFB due to an extremely personal + tragic health situation of an immediate family member,” Erdahl wrote via X on Wednesday, March 11. “I want to thank my leaders at the NFL for allowing me this time at home. I’ll be back on Monday.”
Erdahl did not say which family member was affected.
The veteran sports reporter married her husband, former Michigan football player Sam Buckman, in 2017. The pair share three daughters: Brooke Marie, 6, Avery, 4, and Nora James, 23 months.
Erdhal has been open in the past about her personal life, including in 2024 when she underwent an emergency C-section to welcome Nora after the umbilical cord became prolapsed and around the baby’s neck. Shortly after Nora’s birth, she posted a carousel of photos of the newborn via Instagram and explained her ordeal in the caption.
“To myself who thought everything was fine until it wasn’t,” the caption began. “To my husband who met my petrified tears with calm and strength despite his own terror. To my nurse and her ability to identify a problem that got our healthy baby girl out 6 minutes later.”
Erdahl continued, “To my doctor who rode on the bed with me to the OR and her powerful voice that commanded a bad situation,. To my anesthesiologist who advocated one last time on my behalf to not be fully sedated. To my mom who never once let her fear ripple out onto our little girls at home that there could be a problem brewing. To my sister who had a plane ticket booked before knowing the outcome of my emergency C-section. To sweet baby Nora James who cried one loud healthy cry right when she could to tell me she was ok.”
