A jealous creep allegedly tried to hire a former friend to help him murder his ex-girlfriend in upstate New York as well as two men she dated after they broke up, according to officials.
Eric Berkowitz, 41, of Upper Dublin Township, Penn., allegedly used Facebook to message Steven Luker, an old school friend he had not spoken to in years, asking him to meet on Tuesday — and offering $5,000 to help murder his ex as well as the two men, prosecutors said.
Shocked, Luker immediately contacted police and recorded Berkowitz when they met — during which Berkowitz allegedly handed over a Mac 11 firearm and a burner phone, according to NBC 10.
Berkowitz allegedly told Luker he would “take care of the girl himself” and shared his plan to meet near one of the targets’ homes to carry out the killings on Wednesday, CBS Philadelphia reported.
Berkowitz was then busted Wednesday as he was getting into an Uber heading towards his ex-girlfriend’s address some 175 miles away in Endicott, New York.
He had a duffel bag on him with a loaded gun as well as cocaine and cash, according to WFMZ.
Berkowitz was charged with three counts of criminal solicitation for murder, three counts of attempted murder, three counts of terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, three counts of recklessly endangering another person among other charges.
Berkowitz remained silent during his court appearance Wednesday as a Montgomery County Judge ruled he be held without bail, NBC 10 reported.
He is due to appear in court next on Feb. 20.
Neither his ex, whom he had dated for several years, nor the two other targets were identified.
