Jennifer Lopez is embracing singledom and feeling empowered being on her own after her divorce from Ben Affleck.
“Jen wants to take some time to be single and find herself again,” a source exclusively reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “That’s the journey she’s on.”
It’s been three months since Lopez, 55, filed for divorce from Affleck, 52, following two years of marriage. The pair separated on April 26, according to court docs obtained by Us.
Although Lopez and Affleck have parted ways, the insider says they are still in contact mainly for their children. (Lopez shares twins Max and Emme, 16, with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Affleck is the father of three children, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.)
“Things are still amicable,” the source says, revealing that Lopez and Affleck “saw each other recently and are still talking.”
A second insider tells Us that the exes are “very involved when it comes to the kids,” noting that Lopez and Affleck may reunite over the holidays for their families.
Despite being cordial, the second source insists that Lopez isn’t looking to rekindle her relationship with Affleck. Lopez, who is still legally married to the Argo director, isn’t ready to jump into another romance either.
“She doesn’t want to get into a relationship right away,” the insider adds, noting that Lopez and Affleck are still working through their split.
The exes have yet to finalize their divorce and are awaiting the sale of their joint $60.8 million property in Beverly Hills. However, Lopez previously revealed that she’s “excited” for her future — without a man by her side.
“I’m not looking for anybody,” Lopez told Interview magazine in October. “Because everything that I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f—ing do when it’s just me flying on my own — what if I’m just free?”
The Hustlers actress explained that “there’s no new bar” when it comes to the type of romantic partner she’ll seek next.
“For people who are romantics and love being in relationships and want to grow old with somebody, we think, ‘[We] have to have that to be whole and happy.’ And you don’t,” Lopez said before joking, “It only took 30 years.”
Affleck, for his part, sang his estranged wife’s praises earlier this month. “Jennifer is spectacular,” he told Entertainment Tonight on Sunday, November 3, while speaking about the actress’ work in their upcoming film, Unstoppable.
