Kaitlyn Bristowe is asking her fans for their prayers after learning that her stepfather, Rob, was diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer.
“About 8 months ago, I asked everyone to pray for my stepdad, Rob. I didn’t say why, but he was diagnosed with cancer and he was going into surgery to get it removed,” Bristowe, 40, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, August 30. “Your prayers worked, and they had gotten it all. He then went back for a follow-up scan, and it has moved into his stomach. He is now battling an incurable stage 4 cancer.”
Rob is married to Bristowe’s mother, Leslie, and has been a constant presence in the former Bachelorette’s life. He was even prominently featured on her hometown dates on both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.
“We are all devastated. I do believe he will beat the timeline given because he’s a stubborn, strong warrior with a passion for life,” Bristowe added on Saturday. “But I really do believe in the power of prayer, the power of manifestation, and the power of love. So, please send it all his way. He means the world to me and our blended family.”
Bristowe recently spent time with her parents at a lake house in Canada.
“It was really special to spend the last few days playing cards, eating home-cooked meals, and just telling each other how much we cherish our families’ relationship,” she concluded. “Time is so precious. #F***Cancer.”
Several of Bristowe’s Bachelor Nation peers sent prayers and well-wishes in the comments section of her post.
“Sending y’all a ton of love ♥️♥️♥️,” producer Elan Gale replied.
Bristowe also shared her statement via her Instagram Stories, setting it to The Paper Kites’ “Bloom” with a message that read, “Prayers please.”
Earlier on her trip to visit her parents, Bristowe showed Leslie and Rob episodes of Hulu’s Are You My First? dating show, which she cohosted with Colton Underwood.
“I’m obsessed with this show,” she wrote via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, August 29, watching a clip of Rachael Staudt cuddling Michael Fractor. “I wish I caught my mom saying, ‘Oh, Rob, that reminds me, you need your back cream.’ Wait, should I not watch this with my mom? … [She] liked that one.”
On the show, Bristowe and Underwood, 33, mentor a group of single virgins attempting to find love in a luxury villa.
