Nothing beats the “everlasting bond” that Katie Holmes has with her former Dawson’s Creek costars.

“I will never find the words for what these three beautiful humans mean to me. For our shared journey,” Holmes, 46, captioned a video via Instagram on Tuesday, September 23 — referring to James Van Der Beek, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams. In the clip, the actress held hands with Jackson, 47, and Williams, 45, during the Dawson’s Creek reunion at Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway on Monday, September 22.

Although Van Der Beek, 48, was absent from the festivities, Holmes, Jackson and Williams were joined by the rest of the show’s cast, including Kerr Smith, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Meredith Monroe, Busy Philipps, Mary Beth Peil and Nina Repeta, along with show creator Kevin Williamson, for a read-through of the show’s first episode. The event raised money for F Cancer in support of Van Der Beek, who is currently battling stage III colon cancer.

“From April 1997— I love you. James, you got this. We got you,” Holmes’ caption continued. “To everyone who supported us from the beginning and who continue to support James and his beautiful family, we thank you. Thank you for last night.”

Holmes posted a second Instagram post thanking Williams specifically.

“Thank you Michelle for bringing us all together for this special night,” Holmes captioned her second post on Tuesday. The photo featured her hugging Williams while they were on stage.

While Van Der Beek wasn’t present at the special event, the actor did send a message to the fans.

“I can’t believe I’m not there,” he said during a virtual appearance at the reunion show. “I can’t believe I don’t get to hug my castmates, my beautiful cast, in person, and I just wanted to stand on that stage and thank every single person in this theater for being here tonight — from the cast to the crew to everybody who donated their time and has been so generous. And especially every single last one of you. You’re the best fans in the world. Thank you for coming.”

On Sunday, September 21, the actor took to social media to confirm that he would be missing out on the appearance after “two stomach viruses” knocked him out.

“This is the evening I’d been looking forward to MOST since my angel Michelle Williams said she was putting it together, way back in January,” he wrote. “Despite every effort … I won’t get to be there. I won’t get to stand on that stage and thank every soul in the theater for showing up for me, and against cancer, when I needed it most.”

In his place, James’ wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, and their children attended the special event. The couple share daughters Olivia, 14, Annabel, 11, Emilia, 9, and Gwendolyn, 6, and sons Joshua, 13, and Jeremiah, 2.
