The life of a parent is not always pleasant, as proven by mom-of-four Kylie Kelce.
During the Thursday, September 25, episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, Kelce, 33, detailed accidentally picking up poop after thinking it was an arts and crafts creation.
“You know what’s f***ed up? I just accidentally picked up a literal turd off my kids’ bathroom floor with my bare hand,” she said. “I’m almost embarrassed to say this on the internet. I’m embarrassed to put this out into the world.”
As Kylie explained, her older daughters with husband Jason Kelce — the couple shares Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finn, 6 months — have been into an activity called “Foil Fun,” which sometimes leaves remnants of black foamy stickers around the house.
Coincidentally, Bennett is currently toilet-training and has been in a potty talk phase.
“Benny and I were heading into the bathroom for a little potty party, if you will, and I look down on the floor and she says, ‘Oh! It’s poop,’” Kylie shared. “Our potty talk is very exciting right now. So, naturally, when Benny looks on the floor and points to the thing and says, ‘It’s poop,’ I thought it’s just her being her normal self, labeling things in the house that are not actually poop as poop, because when I looked down, I thought to myself, ‘Oh, it’s a freaking sticker. It’s another one of the damn foam stickers stuck to the floor.’”
Kylie went on to recall how she reached down to pick up the object — with quite a bit of force — when she quickly realized it was, in fact, human feces.
“I raw dogged it. I didn’t take out tissue paper. I didn’t put a glove on. I thought I was picking up a f***ing foam sticker,” she said. “You know what it was? A tiny turd. It was a tiny turd. Benny was right. It was poop.”
Kylie, a self-professed germaphobe, immediately freaked out or, as her kids would say, had “a small crashout.” “And I washed the skin off of my hands,” she explained.
Who does she think left the gift on the bathroom floor? “I’m not pointing any fingers, but the call was coming from inside the bathroom,” Kylie said, adding, “It was correctly identified by the culprit.”
Kylie and Jason, 37, are always open and honest about their experiences with parenthood — the good and the not so great. During a recent Q&A on his and brother Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, Jason shared some potty-training tips of his own while helping his daughters master the bathroom break.
“I’ll tell you what, with each successive kid, it becomes easier ‘cause then the kid [after] is, like, learning how the other one does it,” Jason explained as Travis, 35, smiled. “With Wyatt, she was the first one that you actually had to, like, proactively get her to go on the potty. And the way we potty-trained her was, you could see ‘em just starting to s**t. It ain’t, like, hard to spot. She goes off into the corner and you just see her face starting to go [scrunch]. ‘Do you need to poop right now, Wy?’”
Jason said he just insists his kids go to the potty at that moment. As for peeing, he thinks toddlers have to get annoyed with the “uncomfortableness” of a wet diaper before they eventually use the toilet on their own.
