A security breach Los Angeles Metro‘s internal computer systems this week left commuters unable to pay for rides or see arriving train times.
Agency officials confirmed Thursday that a “security concern” triggered the shutdown of several internal systems and the restriction of access to its administrative computer network.
The action did not affect train or bus operations, and officials insisted rider safety and schedules remained intact.
The breach caused some digital arrival boards to blank, and customers trying to load funds onto their TAP cards ran into problems both online and at ticket kiosks. Metro urged riders to add funds at vending machines where possible.
One commuter said that after multiple attempts to pay, both at machines and on his phone, he still couldn’t complete a transaction. “It’s just not working … it’s a little frustrating,” he told ABC 7.

The LA Metro said customer and employee data had not been compromised. Rail and bus services continued as normal.
The agency did not return the Post’s request for comment.
