Liam Neeson Said He Was Done With Dating Before Pamela Anderson Romance: ‘I’m Past All That’

Liam Neeson swore off dating just nine months before he started dating Pamela Anderson.

Neeson, 73, was asked whether he was dating in an interview with People in October 2024, which has resurfaced amid the confirmation of his relationship with Anderson, 58.

“No, in a word,” he responded at the time. “I’m past all that.”

A source confirmed to Us Weekly on Tuesday, July 29, that Neeson and Anderson “are dating” after they met on the set of their film, The Naked Gun.

The insider said that the costars, who play onscreen couple Detective Frank Drebin Jr. and Beth Davenport in the reboot of the 1988 action-comedy, “always had chemistry while they were filming and their friendship naturally developed into more.”

The source added that taking their relationship to the next level is “new” for the pair, who are “learning how to navigate it together” as they promote The Naked Gun.

“They are both shy and have tried to stay private, but the spark between them is obvious,” the insider continued.

Anderson and Neeson have made headlines for their cozy red carpet appearances in recent days, including a moment at the U.K. premiere of The Naked Gun on July 22 when Anderson kissed Neeson on the cheek. Elsewhere at the event, Neeson wrapped his arm around Anderson’s waist and held her hand.

Amid questions about the nature of their relationship, the pair addressed romance speculation during a joint appearance on Today on Tuesday.

“I had never met Pamela before. We met on set. And we discovered we had a lovely, budding chemistry — as two actors,” Neeson explained, with Anderson agreeing, “Yeah.”

Neeson continued, “It’s like, ‘Oh, this is nice. Let’s not mold this. Let’s just let it breathe.’ And that’s what we did.”

Prior to his relationship with Anderson, Neeson was married to Natasha Richardson for nearly 15 years until her death in a ski accident at 45 years old in March 2009. The couple shared sons Micheál, 30, and Daniel, 28.

Meanwhile, Anderson shares sons Brandon, 29, and Dylan, 27, with ex-husband Tommy Lee, whom she was married to from 1995 to 1998. The Baywatch alum has been married multiple other times, most recently to her bodyguard Dan Hayhurst. The pair got married in December 2020, and Us confirmed they were getting divorced in January 2022.

Both of Anderson’s sons, as well as Neeson’s sons, were in attendance at The Naked Gun’s New York City premiere on Monday, July 28, as the couple walked the red carpet.

Us’ source revealed that Brandon and Dylan “love seeing [their mom] happy and fully approve” of the new relationship, adding that they “think Liam is great and have gotten to know him better in the last few months.”

Brandon addressed his mom’s relationship with the Taken star on the red carpet on Monday, choosing to play coy while praising their work in the film.

“I just think they’re such great costars,” he told Access Hollywood. “They have such a great onscreen chemistry. It means it’s well done. … They both did such an amazing job. And it’s actually really cool to see both of them in their comedic element.”

The Naked Gun hits theaters on Friday, August 1.
