Meghan Markle has shared a lighthearted private moment between her and her husband Prince Harry.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on Friday, October 10, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, shared a behind-the-scenes clip of the pair interacting backstage at the Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Gala. The event was held on Thursday in New York City.
“Happy World Mental Health Day… to the man who always keeps me laughing,” Meghan wrote via the post.
The short, black-and-white clip showed Meghan laughing at a joke told by Harry, 41. Meghan chose Sylvie Vartan’s song “Baby, c’est vous” to accompany the post.
Meghan and Harry made a rare joint public outing for the event, where they were honored with the organization’s Humanitarians of the Year Award.
“Working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives,” Harry and Meghan said in a joint statement last month of the prestigious honor. “As parents ourselves, we have been moved to action by the power of their stories and are honored to support them.”
They concluded, “We’re proud to be long-time partners of Project Healthy Minds as we work together to shine a light on what remains one of the most pressing issues of our time.”
Meghan and Harry’s relationship has been under the spotlight since they began dating in 2016 and subsequently announced their engagement the following year.
The former “Suits” actress first spoke about her romance with Harry in an interview with Vanity Fair in September 2017.
“We’re a couple. We’re in love,” she gushed to the magazine at the time. “I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”
The couple, who met when they were introduced by a mutual friend, sat down for their first joint interview in November 2017 with BBC News.
In the interview, Harry revealed he popped the question to Meghan at Kensington Palace’s Nottingham Cottage in London.
Describing the moment as “romantic,” Meghan admitted the proposal was unexpected.
“It was just an amazing surprise. It was just so sweet and natural and very romantic,” she gushed. “He got on one knee. As a matter of fact, I could barely let [him] finish proposing. I was like, ‘Can I say ‘yes’ now?’”
Following their engagement, Harry and Meghan tied the knot in May 2018 and went on to welcome two children.
Their son, Archie, was born in May 2019 in London.
“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of “Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019,” the palace said in a statement shortly after the birth. “Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz. The duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.”
Meanwhile their daughter, Lilibet, arrived in June 2021, and was born in Santa Barbara, California.
“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili,” the pair announced in a statement posted to their Archewell website on June 6. “She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
