It’s the summer of love triangles between a girl and two brothers — and My Life With the Walter Boys season 2 is giving The Summer I Turned Pretty a run for its money when it comes to drama.
The series, based on Ali Novak’s 2014 novel of the same name, follows Manhattanite Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) as she moves in with family friends following the death of her parents and sister. While settling into her new rural lifestyle in Colorado, she ends up falling for two nearly estranged brothers: Cole (Noah LaLonde) and Alex Walter (Ashby Gentry).
Warning: Spoilers below for season 2 of My Life With the Water Boys.
While season 1 ended with Jackie cheating on Alex with Cole and flying to New York City to avoid the fallout, season 2 begins with Jackie returning to the ranch to face her past demons. As the trio try to navigate their way through their complicated feelings of love, resentment and more, the rest of the family is dealing with their own issues. The Walter parents, George (Marc Blucas) and Katherine (Sarah Rafferty), are having trouble starting a new business with son Will (Johnny Link), while Nathan (Corey Fogelmanis) and Danny (Connor Stanhope) are having their own relationship ups and downs.
My Life With the Walter Boys is streaming on Netflix now. Keep scrolling to see how the season unfolded, who Jackie chose and more:
Does Alex Forgive Jackie for Leaving?
At first, Alex is clearly upset that Jackie left without a word and spent the summer in New York — he actively ignores her and gives her the cold shoulder. When they are forced to work together in Drivers Ed class, he declares them officially broken up, calling the “time of death” as “September 6, 2:45 p.m.” However, after Jackie covers for him with their parents, he tells her that things will eventually be OK, he just needs time.
He later takes it back, saying he’s still “mad” at Jackie for leaving after he drunkenly told her he loves her at brother Will’s wedding. He admits that he’s also mad because he “can’t move on” from Jackie, no matter how hard he tries.
Does Alex Find Out About Jackie and Cole’s Kiss?
After Alex admits he can’t get over Jackie, she finally confesses that the real reason she left Colorado was because she kissed Cole. Alex later confronts Cole, who tries to apologize, but Alex tells him he “doesn’t want to hear it.” Alex says it’s “over” for both him and Jackie and Cole and Jackie and suggests everyone “move on.”
A few days later, he tells Jackie that he’s glad the kiss is out in the open because now he knows that he wasn’t “crazy” for thinking there was something between her and Cole. He also says he understands why she “left.”
In a shocking turn of events, he tells Jackie he won’t “ever” be able to get over her, and the pair kiss.
Do Jackie and Cole Talk About Their Kiss?
Unlike Alex and Jackie, Cole and Jackie waste no time addressing their kiss. After crossing paths in the barn just days after her return, Cole tells her “we need to talk,” and the pair dive into what happened the previous spring.
Cole tells Jackie he misses her, but she tells him to “stop,” saying that their kiss started an entire “disaster.” When Cole asks what Alex said when she told him about the kiss, Jackie confesses she’s kept him from him and tells Cole that “nothing” else can happen between them — not just for Alex, but for the Walter family and for her.
She asks for space, and Cole agrees to give it to her. They spend the rest of the season supporting each other from afar, sharing a few charged moments — like dancing together or Cole trying to pick hay out of Jackie’s hair — but Jackie shuts them all down. Jackie begins to secretly date Alex again, while Cole tries to hook up with someone else but accidentally calls her Jackie while drunk.
Their friendship takes a nose dive when Cole eventually walks in on Jackie and Alex making out on the couch. He spends the rest of the season avoiding her until they have an epic blowout fight in the finale.
Does Jackie Date Anyone in Season 2?
Alex tries to date other girls, but he can’t get over Jackie, and Jackie and Alex get back together in season 2 hoping to start over and give their romance another try. They agree to keep it a secret from the rest of the family, meeting up in private to kiss and spend time together.
Things seem to be going well until their busy schedules start to pull them in opposite directions and Cole shows up for Jackie when Alex is otherwise engaged.
Who Does Jackie Choose Between Alex and Cole?
Although Jackie gets back with Alex, Cole confronts her after walking in on them kissing and she admits that she’s in love with him, but can’t be with him because he makes her feel “out of control.” He says he loves her too and asks her what’s so bad about feeling that way, but they are interrupted by Alex overhearing their love confession. An accident with George stops the conversation short, leaving the reveal on a cliffhanger.
What Happens Between Danny and Erin?
After texting each other all summer, the pair meet up in the library one day at school and share their first kiss. They try to keep it on the down low, but eventually come clean to Cole, who previously dated Erin (Alisha Newton). He tells her that she deserves a great guy and is fine with their relationship.
Erin and Danny start dating and spend most of the season happily together before college plans start to be discussed. While Danny wants them both to apply to Juilliard and acting school, Erin says she wants to go to college for business. He tries to push her to reconsider, causing her to feel like he doesn’t understand her as well as she thought he did.
Do Nathan and Skylar Stay Together?
Everyone’s favorite couple Nathan and Skyler (Jaylan Evans) start the season on solid ground, happier than ever. Cracks in their foundation start to show, however, when Nathan joins the paper where Skyler is editor. After a few tiffs between them, Nathan begins to connect with Skylar’s ex Zach (Carson MacCormac) who clearly has interest in dating Nathan.
At the school dance — which Nathan attends with Skylar — Zach admits that he wants to kiss Nathan and the two start making out in public. Skylar sees them and ends things with Nathan, who then starts dating Zach. But before long Nathan starts to feel like he’s losing himself while dating Zach and tries to get back with Skyler, who turns him down.
Does Kiley Date Anyone?
After appearing to pine for BFF Alex throughout season 1, Kiley (Mya Lowe) finds a new romance with a surprising love interest, Dylan (Colton Stewart). While she’s hesitant to believe a jock like him is actually into her at first, the duo bond over the course of the season and end the finale by sharing a sweet kiss. (A kiss that Alex clocks and doesn’t seem too happy about it, either.)
What Happens to Plans for the Walters’ Farm?
Season 1 ended with plans for Will and George to work with Jackie’s uncle Richard (Alex Quijano) to start diversifying their income and turn part of their land into a holiday destination and event venue. The plans spiral out in season 2, however, when they receive pushback over what effect it will have on the town at large.
George also starts to doubt the plan, which quickly starts to expand beyond what they originally discussed. Richard also reveals that he had to use his own money for the construction when he couldn’t find enough investors, and George ultimately decides to pull the plus and work on becoming a working winery instead.
Is George OK?
The season ends with Alex overhearing Jackie and Cole confessing their love for each other, but their conversation is interrupted after ambulances drive up to the ranch. Will then rides up on a four wheeler, telling them, “It’s dad!” before the credits roll.
